Some of you may know me for making unhinged genomics memes for NHGRI! Here are some of my favorites. 😊

I was so thankful to be able to take my obsession with pop culture with my passion for making research accessible, and turn it into some of our most successful messaging.
I have a new blog post up in Genetics Society of America's blog Genes to Genomes! Check it out here: genestogenomes.org/a-first-of-i...
A first of its kind C. elegans study uncovers the diversity and evolution of gene regulation
A new paper in GENETICS shows how multiple strains of C. elegans developed their own unique methods for controlling gene activity.

I'm excited to show you something that we've been working on! Follow our new account for updates!
Sometimes being uprooted lets you grow something bigger. 🌱

On April 1st, the three of us were laid off from our dream jobs as science communicators for the federal government.

But science communication is still alive and thriving. It’s just growing underground.

Follow us for more updates to come!

Highlight of my year ... by far ... has been welcoming Melissa and her lab to the NIH. After a slightly(!) rocky start, we're allowed to hire trainees again, so please reach out to her if you're interested. You won't find a better mentor!
In December I accepted a position as a senior investigator at the NIH in the National Human Genome Research Institute & Center for Genomics and Data Science Research.

Bringing the party in the desert to Maryland.

We are hiring postdocs & postbacs!

Please reach out :)

Happy DNA Day! It is a bittersweet one this year since many of us were laid off from NHGRI. One of my favorite memories was getting to write and be in a video with Eric Green where we showed people how to extract DNA from a strawberry. www.youtube.com/watch?v=zMw4...

I wrote a thing.

I am eternally grateful for my editor, who took the original draft and helped me narrow down my key points into a more effective piece with a broader reach.

Also, thanks to the editorial & legal teams, who maintained the message while protecting us in this fraught moment.

A project five years in the making, we've now published complete "T2T" genomes for six additional ape species! It turns out that finishing (and analyzing) six genomes is slightly more work than one... doi.org/10.1038/s415...

If you are in biomedical space and you need a social media person and you don’t hire Jenny, I don’t even know what you are doing (same goes for the rest of the NHGRI comms office and other roles).

NHGRI’s comm team was exceptionally good and if anyone is looking for a talented science communicator, you should snap up Jenny as soon as possible.
So long, NIH. The place I grew up in and discovered my passion for science communication.

I found a true calling to help take innovative genomics research and make it accessible, interesting and fun for wider audiences.

I'm so devastated that my whole team got laid off today.

Our comms team was the best to ever do it! They are also the kind of people who, even while saying goodbyes, kept making me smile. I'm going to miss them terribly. If you're in need of some stellar folks, get in touch
