Rob’s theme for #BirdOfTheDay is #BirdsOnTheGround and Merlin’s BOTD for me was the Bearded Reedling, so I combined it all in one picture. 🪶 The reedlings are swallowing grit to prepare their digestive system for their winter diet of seeds.

The Christmas Express. For the past two years I have been on the first early morning ride from Arnhem to Nijmegen and back. I even have a “toy” steam locomotive” 🚂 . I never was a doll girl.

And two more birds I have the #least pictures of are from my (work)trip in South Africa: long-distance shots with my then crappy camera of two secretary birds and a lilac breasted roller. If I win the lottery I will go back. No work, just 📷, braai, biltong & a sip of Amarula.
