Super happy to announce the latest work from my lab together with Hemali Phatnani @nygenome.org & NYGC ALS Consortium!

We've combined ALS patient profiling (100s!), ML classifiers and matched bulk/single-cell data to dive into ALS Molecular Subtypes

I was still faculty at CSHL when Watson’s remaining titles were stripped in 2018. Duncan Watson wrote a sad/angry email to everyone living on Bungtown road. Me included. He told us we were no longer allowed to use the too “intimate” name Jim

Of all the hot takes on Rosalind Franklin, I'm truly baffled by the argument that acknowledging harm done to women somehow removes their agency. And thus, it's more "feminist" to pretend that women were not wronged by the men who tormented and harassed them
If you believe either that Franklin discovered the double helix, and / or Watson and Crick stole her data, ask yourself how you know this. Then take a read of this article.
If I see one more stupid Rosalind Franklin take I'm going to lose my mind. Thank god for @matthewcobb.bsky.social and @nccomfort.bsky.social. www.nature.com/articles/d41...

If you burn down a forest, you don't miss out on lumber for just that season. You have to replant all the trees, nurture them, and wait for them to grow.

The science and research budget cuts happening now are wanton, senseless arson. Recovery, if it ever happens, will take generations.
