TL;DR even web search results are a black box with an LLM. For reasonable reasons, which I cover, but still always surprising and interesting to learn a little bit more about how something works.

I installed @netnewswire.com after a 10+ year hiatus and it somehow had all my old feeds. Almost all were still active. Incredible. Excellent writing across them all, without exception. Even more incredible. I'm 3hrs into reading sites I haven't regularly read in a decade and it's glorious.

"I stand by my analysis. I am not claiming Nvidia is Enron. It is clearly Cisco" --Michael Burry

While I dislike the slop & bombardment of 'AI all the things', I do increasingly lean on LLMs daily and it's been incredibly useful and fun. But Burry is almost certainly correct re: Nvidia..

@thebenedictevans.bsky.social is right, the “risk factors” section in the CoreWeave S1 is epic. More broadly, just interesting to see another example of a crypto hedge fund pivoting to AI and finding an even bigger gold mine. DeepSeek, CoreWeave, I wonder how many more?

Clever idea (administer a personality disorder test on each AI model), and well presented. Interesting to think about this vs which model I “prefer”.

"The brain parasite is trying to get you to breathe in its spores."

Incredible piece of writing. Very much appreciated the perspective as someone who was there for early dhh but simply haven't paid attention to ruby and it's "famous people" for the last 15 years.
After the Rubygems drama, I felt frustrated that I can’t escape evil people trying to dominate my life.

I found myself mourning the future I thought we would have; but also hopeful that it’s not too late to start choosing kindness.

Join me in building a better future:

How much tracking signal is leaking from your house? Well, here's what DNS blocked from our wifi *in one evening*. Of note, we have browser ad-blockers. I'm the only @1password.bsky.social user, that's a lot of calls home.. 😳

Not sure I’ll blog more but it was super fun to build my own static site generator and move off Ghost (who I like supporting but are really a newsletter product). Cliché nerd side quest ✅.

One of the most consistent themes in computing across my time in the industry is Microsoft’s complete and total lack of taste. It’s at the point where I admire it, expect it. Latest of course is I updated the kid’s Windows PC and the nested / cascading co-pilot UI is nothing short of remarkable.

PSA: The central lore of the Dune novels was a holy war against AI.

"Thou shalt not make a machine in the likeness of a human mind."

"Once, men turned their thinking over to machines in the hope that this would set them free. But that only permitted other men with machines to enslave them."

I used Claude Code to make a few different static site generated blogs as a way of getting a quick sense of frameworks, systems, etc, and as part of that it made a few sample posts about unix tips, git tips, etc, and tbh they're pretty damned good posts. ship it? lol

I need to come up with something other than Ghost to host my simple blog / public journal. Don’t mind giving the Ghost folks money, but it’s really a substack alternative and newsletter isn’t really my goal. So many rabbit holes already, have been trying to avoid this one for years now.. 😄
