I’ve always felt that in demos.. my first experience was on my dad’s shoulders at the demo for Vietnam moratorium in Newcastle.. where I remember cops being really scary (may have been my age) .. not surprised either..

Because I grew up in QLD in the ‘80s, I’m more often surprised when police *don’t* attack demonstrators. So I’ve had that familiar feeling this week of watching people come to a difficult truth: when you see a demo turn ugly, it’s almost always because the cops decided that’s how it was gonna go.

A dude got in a hit and run accident by my house today when I was working from home. Went out to make sure he was ok - flustered, but unhurt. Another dude walking his dog also stopped and got the plate before the car drove away.
