Ten years ago I wrote this about the November 13 terrorist attacks in Paris that killed 130 people, including someone we knew, and struck at the heart of my longtime Paris 'hood. I'll be posting tomorrow about this on Mixed Borders on Substack. www.nytimes.com/2015/11/19/o...

The original Dem demands were:
1) Permanent ACA subsidies
2) Medicaid funding restored
3) No more blank checks for the regime (rescission)

They dropped Medicaid immediately. Went silent on rescission. Cut back to 1 year of subsidies on Friday. And surrendered today.

The Senate Democrats!

The Mamdani Era Begins
His opponents tried to smear him for his youth, inexperience, and leftist politics. But New Yorkers didn’t want a hardened political insider to be mayor—they wanted Zohran Mamdani.

Bernie’s democratic socialism is still compatible with liberal democracy. Trump’s national socialism is not. Thank you for your attention to this matter!

My premise, starting w Duffy being named to this job and confirmed by every utterance or action since then, is that he knows nothing about aviation.

Would be like appointing me to judge the world lumberjack championships. (At which Duffy was the speed-climbing winner, in 1994.)

"The word “fall” has its origin in the Old Norse falla, which means to fall down dead, to be slain, to die, as in fallen soldiers. Empires fall. Governments fall.
We fall in love. We fall for scammers. We fall from grace. We are falling off a cliff."

The total number of far-right seats in the Tweede Kamer:

2021: 28
2023: 41
2025: 42 👈

And I don’t even count BBB here, which has radicalized significantly in the last year.
