Zohran Mamdani is saying things like “poverty is a policy choice and politicians have a duty to their constituents to make their lives affordable” and it is making a lot of politicians very very scared that they may actually have to start doing some actual service in their public service jobs.

I’m grateful for this opportunity to interview another Hard of Hearing dancer. Disability is rarely talked about in the ballet field, & navigating it gets very lonely. But in the words of Fiona, “it’s not something to be ashamed of at all. It’s just something about you—that’s the way you are.” 🦻🩰

All this administration does is put every single nonprofit and institution into a trolley problem of either sacrificing trans people or hurting everyone else by eliminating federal funding.

It won't end with us. They'll do this with every minority until it's only white men who are left.

Weird that we have to say this, but the government doesn’t get to decide what gender a person is.

I’m really sad about the TikTok ban. There’s not a lot of places that ballet dancers can have opinions and think critically and candidly about our field.

For a brief time, TikTok offered that to me, and it made me feel way less alone.

I’m hard of hearing and I am going to a bar to watch the Traitors and I texted my friend that I realized the bar might not have captions on and she’s asking them to turn them on for me and I cannot tell you how much stress that takes off me

Just taught an entire class about how good criticism is beholden not to specific artists or businesses but the wider genre of the art itself, which is deserving of sustained attention, consideration and judgement. There's a lot of bad criticism, but fandom just doesn't (and shouldn't!) do that.

For the love of dance, can people write dance criticism of Alvin Ailey without comparing every piece to Revelations? I know this phenomenon happens with NYCB and Balanchine works too, but it just feels so gross. It happens like every time Revelations is on the bill but also sometimes when it’s not!

The nutcracker is truly a CRAZY ballet like imagine if I told you we were going to see a ballet where the two principals don’t come in until the very end and the whole first act has tons of children and no classical ballet

Can someone point me to a classical Sugarplum fairy variation with stellar musicality? Like where you feel the music come alive?

So many videos feel so disconnected from the music, sometimes choreographically but often literally the MP3 file is off

I built a strong network on twitter of dance enthusiasts and kinda miss it. Any of yall here?
