The unmitigated GALL! 🤭 Beautiful winter specimens.
Using gouache paint, I illustrated these goldenrod stem galls in 2016. I collected each specimen and—w/ some help from @stephenbheard.bsky.social—learned to identify them. There are 7 different types of galls shown. Prints are available w/ or w/out ID key: fineartamerica.com/profiles/emi...

Of you’ve ever enjoyed #carambola (star fruit) or grown up with trees nearby, you will also appreciate this beautiful @carrykarre.bsky.social carved spoon made from the wood. Thinly sliced carabola atop cranberry relish made from the whole fruit is a delish and beautiful family holiday tradition. 🤗

Today’s daytime frens in our small, organic #backyard. Because I don’t plant back there (all volunteer plants, many invasive), I don’t care who munches on what. The Ring camera reveals nighttime visitors: deer, opossums, a bunny, raccoons. Fall has been so beautiful! #autumn #wildlife #smallcitylife

PBS's Leonardo da Vinci documentary is worthy of its subject. Very thoughtful and painstakingly, yet beautifully, rendered.
