Many of us donate labor to our institutions (which don't appreciate it) for zine librarianship. The labor is for our communities, not the institutions. The work is some of our activism for which we don't need to be paid. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

My friend Ian speaking truth to power here! Support Milwaukee workers with a raise that is still UNDER the change in cost of living in this city.

friendly reminder that socialist mayors governed Milwaukee for nearly half a century from 1910-1960

during this time Milwaukee achieved milestones such as being the healthiest, safest, and best-governed city in America

States like Mississippi and Alabama have been fully abandoned by the DNC so this was folks on the ground doing the work. If y'all would stop shitting on the South maybe your little blue party could have a solid base there.
BREAKING: Democrats just broke the GOP supermajority in the Mississippi Senate!

In a stunning victory, Democrats gained seats in court-ordered special elections and will now head to Jackson to represent and fight on behalf of their constituents.

Milwaukeeans!!! Click the link in the first comment to send an email to all council members. MPD just got 15% raises, and they don't do jack compared to all the other workers who make this city great.

#milwaukee #mke #fairwages
City of Milwaukee workers are asking for 4% raise after years of inflation and stagnant wages, and we're telling City Hall to heed their demands. Can you sign on and send a letter to city leaders telling them to do the right thing?

Tell City Hall: These workers are only asking for what is fair!

If we put half as much resources into metadata and cataloging as we do into dumb AI stuff, we’d way better off in terms of the info/data ecosystem
Panel at #Crossref2025 wonders if metadata has an image problem. Bianca Kramer says the word metadata not used in the Barcelona Declaration. Mariángela Napoli thinks perception of metadata is something too technical. Kazuhiro Hayashi describes metadata as "the unsung hero". Time for a rebrand ;)

I just discovered that my friend Sue's book is available to pre-order from @pmpress.bsky.social

pmpress.org/index.php?l=...

Sue's a tireless activist and artist based here in MKE. She's a regular contributor to WWIII Illustrated, and her public work is seen at protests and actions around the state
Front Lines: A Lifetime of Drawing Resistance
Susan Simensky Bietila This book is a blueprint for artists looking to engage with activist movements with a persistent longevity and a reminder that art has the power to be more dangerous than words.

I'm so sick of discourse from supposed allies about where trans people went wrong.

Where we "went wrong" is that billionaires spent unimaginably large sums to attack us repeatedly and major media outlets have spent a decade piling on.

I don't know what to say about this, as I get ready to head to my 3rd zine tabling event in a month tomorrow, other than @sheerspite.bsky.social nails it.

As both an attendee and organizer of zine, zinelibrary and rad events, there is so much for us to do still to make the days-of awesome for all.

We have a Sandy Berman file in the archive at QZAP, which includes correspondence and a copy of a petition to add "Anal Fisting" as a subject heading to LOC.

He also moderated the panel where I met my ZFF @zinelib.bsky.social 20+ years ago, and I'm forever thankful to both. 💖
