Cleo is now hanging out upstairs full-time! I moved her food into the office and gated it off so she has a comfortable space that Björn can’t access, so I’ve been able to monitor how often she’s eating and top her food off when it gets low. She’s swapping between her little office bed and my bed.

I watched the leaves of the couple of ginkgo trees down the block fall (like 100 ➡️ 0) in a span of 8 hours yesterday. Turns out that’s a normal occurrence if there’s a cold snap so I guess snow will do it.

The appetite stimulant is working wonders! Between the crunchy and wet food I’m estimating she’s getting about 220 calories in on a day she doesn’t finish the crunchies, and closer to 300 when she eats it all. Cats her age should eat between 150 and 200 so hopefully this means she’ll gain a little.

I have successfully lured Cleo into staying upstairs the majority of the day by gating off the office from the puppy and giving her sole access, which is great because the basement is like 5 degrees colder and I just don’t think her little body is producing the same amount of heat it usually does

I wouldn’t wish palliative care for an elderly pet on my worst enemy. Cleo has always been a complainer but I’m really worried that I am unable to figure out if she’s just bitching to bitch or if she’s in pain, and that’s really scary :( I’m in totally unknown territory and I’m scared for my baby

The puppy is continuing to prove his guard dog chops! There was somebody outside my window with a flashlight at around 5 this morning (a delivery man) and he barked at the door a few times, came and woke me up and went back to standing guard waiting for a home invader. DAMN he’s a good boy!

It’s still so crazy to me how strong the bond of internet friendship can be. I’m pretty sure if I made the call for a gathering of my old Haim friends and acquaintances high school reunion-style at least half of them would show and we’d have the best time
