Somewhere in a Roman brickyard, around 1800 years ago, a fresh tile was drying ahead of firing - until a dog trotted straight across it.
Centuries later, the tile has made it into a museum: not because of an emperor, but thanks to one dog who accidentally walked his way into history.🧵1/2

Furious at this. TERFs and Gender Critical people are a loud, radicalized, wealthy minority, forcing groups who've done the right thing for years into horrible positions that none of them want. Stop buying Harry Potter. Fight for your trans brothers and sisters. They'll come for you next.
i hope every single person who still buys harry potter merch or engages with that franchise is happy that they're literally making girl guides cry

girl guides uk have been forced very much against their will to exclude trans girls. full statement is here: www.girlguiding.org.uk/information-...

Our game LONG GONE DAYS is finally BACK on Steam 😭💕

We lost a lot of momentum during that time, so if you want to help us recover, please consider leaving a review (if you haven't yet) and spreading the word 💚

My one quibble on this preferred shopping app:
"It's sorting center, not sortation center!"

That's all, and good day.

AI is DECIMATING trades you take for granted until they're ruined by reckless slop.

Airport announcements? Somebody voices that.

Medical diagram your dentist shows you? Somebody drew that.

Your customer support ticket? Somebody answered that.

College textbooks? Somebody wrote that.
I made $125K in 2022, mostly due to Political work. I might not break $30K this year. And yet I was a finalist for Voice Actor of the Year from the Reed Awards for the best in Political. I'm a master of my craft, at the top of my game.

My profession is DYING. I'm looking for a side hustle.

Use AI for stuff like this! More cancer research and unpacking old SETI data and less replacing artists, writers and workers.
“Imagine if we truly understand complex whale communication & can extend our term ‘language’ to them. Such breakthroughs would not only rewrite biology textbooks but also fundamentally redefine what it means to be human & pave the way to instituting new protections for whales, the ocean & beyond”🧪

I should really remember to utilize the 3D assets available in CSP more often. Especially when web searches for reference for an exact angle was proving futile.

The death of browsing is part of the reason art is the way it is now. Our opinions are largely fed to us by algorithms. Spending a spare 15 minutes wandering around a bookstore or comic shop or video rental place was how you found stuff you wouldn't ordinarily pick up and thereby expanded your taste
Bookselling is like the most "people go to the store and buy what looks cool to them without a particular agenda" type business left, and your purchases have a huge influence on what is ordered, what is displayed, and what is recommended.

This also extends to window shopping. No one knows the stores in their town anymore (quick, name a place you can get a belt or an electric mixer from that isn’t a big box store)

(No seriously I need a new belt)

We need 15 min cities so people are in touch with where they live again.

Literally buying one copy of a book at your local indie bookstore can mean the difference in whether they buy future books from that author.
