RIP CINNAMON RICKER gone too soon 1/17/26

We seem to have reached the age where life stops giving us things and starts taking them away.

SAD HILL UNEARTHED was about the efforts to restore the iconic cemetery from the climax of THE GOOD, THE BAD, AND THE UGLY. I saw it early enough that I could contribute to those efforts and was rewarded with my own grave marker at this historical cinematic shrine, seen in the background

Say something nice about someone today:

@notreallyjcm.bsky.social i don't care how cliche it sounds, but you have an amazing capacity to love and you always find ways to love more people / animals. You are an aspiration!
Say something nice about someone today:

@dattil.io you care, a whole damn lot, that takes so much energy and you seem to never run out. Please keep being an example on how to care for people and their well-being.

cool thread
Moody lighting wasn't invented for film noir, lighting became increasingly important in the 1910s and films of that decade, like the gangster picture ALIAS JIMMY VALENTINE (1915), used light dramatically. Director Maurice Tourneur was also a cinematographer, this was his wheelhouse.

dentist: count backwards from 10, please

me: *nervous* 10, 9, 8, 7, … this is almost as fun as being at the dmv

dentist: yeah my license is suspended

me: 6, 5, 4, 3, … how’d you lose your driver’s license?

dentist: driver’s license?

What is YOUR greatest celebrity encounter?

I’m eating in a Chinese restaurant on a meeting lunch break & I see Seymour Cassel sitting by himself. I told the waiter I would pay his bill.

He comes over & says “man wants to pay for my lunch, I want to know why”

Told him I was a fan & he joined us
I was on a commercial flight with all three members of Sleater-Kinney, who all sat separately.

What is YOUR most mundane celebrity encounter?

First class flight home from LAX on business trip with my coworker Ray. He has a stupid look on his face & is waving past me to Kathy Griffin - who immediately asked for another seat and sat next to the bathroom.

From interesting to mundane
I was on a commercial flight with all three members of Sleater-Kinney, who all sat separately.

PREDATOR: KILLER OF KILLERS
Slight, but enjoyable 85 minute animated movie that bridges the gap between Prey and Predator: Badlands. I’m not that big into animated movies but the movie has fun with its Predator lore- the ending ties it up nicely

WATCH IT
