I’ve been stalwart backer of transatlantic alliance all my life. I understand why Europeans have so far trod softly/tried to keep Trump onside. But, there comes a time when you have to face reality. The US is no longer our ally. Its defense guarantee is worthless. Time to kick ass back🧵

In an extremely crowded field, I reckon Robert Jenrick is one of the worst, most dislikable politicians in modern Britain.

Here’s why 👇🏻

I don't expect Jenrick to last long in Reform. He left the Tories because he couldn't be the leader. He is far too ambitious to last long next to the Fahrage, who will not allow any competition. See Rupert Lowe.

I've highlighted in red 18 countries who've qualified for the World Cup finals (or are still in contention with a few play-off places still to be decided).

If the fans (and the players?) can no longer get US visas, how can FIFA continue to justify proceeding with the tournament in the US?

Good question 🎯

"Mr. Farage, you say you're a new reforming force in politics. How can you claim that if - by your own definition - you're bringing in so many people that cause the mess you're trying to clear up?"

Jenrick apparently "left his resignation speech printed out and hanging around" and "someone got hold of it".

He's got the brains of a 4 year old child - and that kid will be glad to have got rid of them.

She says she was "presented with clear, irrefutable evidence that he was plotting in secret to defect" to Reform

Surely if it's not Glasman it'll be Hinder.

And to be honest the best outcome for Labour would be if they both went.
Farage boasts he'll have a Labour defection next week. If it's not Glasman I'll scoff a trilby.

Well, the government has admitted it was wrong.

Talks about "improving public transport" and "protecting green spaces" then jumps ship to a party opposed to much of that.

One of the weirder defections. Guessing he originally joined Greens more on anti-establishment/anti-Labour Party? views rather than agreeing with much of the party's platform?

If the figures we're getting out of Iran are in the right league, this weekend was, I think, one of the bloodiest state crackdowns of all time. People are talking 12,000-20,000 dead; for comparison Hungary in 1956 was about 2,500, Tiananmen - across country, in multiple cities - probably 1000+
