Other than the books I pre-ordered today, my goal for 2025 is to not buy anything new until I read EVERYTHING on my TBR list.

Gifts, of course, are welcome (if you dare).
This strike is really starting to take a toll on my mental health.

I think tomorrow I’m going to go for a long walk outside, and then go home and write a paper.

My sleep schedule has been completely fucked since the strike started.

I have very little motivation to do anything, so instead I sleep and read.

I saw some colleagues today and it was really nice but boy do I miss the social component of my job a lot.

As someone who is very content living alone, I am finally feeling the effects of the isolation, and I don’t like it.

I’d give a lot for a hug or three from *someone* right about now.

You know when you just want to talk to someone all the time? And just be in their orbit?

The last time I talked about books on here I got called a much of names by people who disagreed with me about listening to audiobooks and reading the printed word being different experiences of the same text.

I’m not falling for that again.
What's your totally ordinary opinion about books that you nonetheless find compelled to share when asked on a social media site such as this one for your most extreme/unhinged/hottest takes?

I'll go first: manga is popular among young people because manga often features young people.

After I’m done this degree I will not be going back to school for a very long time.

On the other place, a couple posts escaped containment and now my mentions have things like this.

Love to have an opinion on the internet.

The one thing the other place got right is the quality filter.

Mine is holding like the Hoover Dam.

Once, I had some big feelings about baseball.

Tonight, I have some big feelings about baseball, but I know that it’s like 4 months until pitchers and catchers report, and it’ll be okay.

On Baseball
I’ve been meaning to write this for a long time now, and I finally feel ready to share, maybe. Baseball saved my life. It sounds melodramatic, but it’s true. Baseball, that beautiful, spiritual, si…

Also if you’re in Alberta and your kids are at home because teachers are on strike, please know that we aren’t doing this to punish your kids.

The UCP is punishing kids by not addressing any of the issues that we have repeatedly asked them to address.

It is rare that I read more than one book in a year that absolutely destroys me and then puts me back together, but I’ve done it 4 times in 12 months.

Migrations
Once There Were Wolves
All the Colors of the Dark
My Friends

Question: if there’s a written portion of a job interview, should the candidates be informed before the interview? Or is it ok to leave it as a surprise?

(This is for a teaching job. There’s no standard policy in the school district about it)

Thankfully we have en extra-long weekend so I can just rot in bed today and not feel like I’m not wasting time

I DONE DID IT
I applied for a new job (same school, still teaching, different responsibilities).

Haven’t heard yet about an interview but I’m sure it’s happening.

I haven’t had an interview in 6 years.
