We've had fuckups in the White House before, but never a president who seemed so deliberately intent on being a fuckup.

It's been said before, but if these people were actual agents of an enemy power seeking to divide, dismantle and destroy the USA they wouldn't be doing anything different.

Jeffries: In that Oval Office meeting, which lasted over an hour, the amount of time spent talking about health insurance for undocumented immigrants was less than 10 seconds. You know why? Because they know it’s a lie. They didn’t even bother to bring it up—because the cameras weren’t rolling.

GUARD IN MEMPHIS: The TN Supreme Court & a federal court have both ruled it is unconstitutional for TN’s governor to deploy the National Guard for law enforcement.

In 2021, TN’s GOP Attorney General wrote an advisory saying the same. It was so damning, the new AG secretly erased it from record!

I wrote about Bad Bunny playing the Super Bowl and what it means for Puerto Ricans to see one of our own on that stage. It's resistance and shows that Todavía seguimos aquí. We are still here.

Will this be the last "First Monday in October"?

Will SCOTUS work its way out of a job?

Time will tell.
Next Monday's "One First" was going to be about how we should stop covering new #SCOTUS terms through the "big" cases the Court will hear; and instead focus on how the Court is behaving.

Fortunately for me (and you), @dahlialithwick.bsky.social and @mjsdc.bsky.social did it first—and *way* better:
The Supreme Court Will Do Four Things This Term That Tell You Everything You Need to Know
In the week before the October 2025 Supreme Court term opens, the impulse among court watchers will again be to do what we always do.

📌NOTE: NPR is non-partisan, straight-down-the-middle programming. I grumble at times when they both-sides things a little too much for my liking, but know they are making every effort to be fair and get it right.

📌It is telling then that so many Republicans want it killed. Fairness? Accuracy? Nah.
