I used to be a Mesolithic archaeologist. In 2020 Covid19 hit me, crashed me. My pleas for help continue. Year 5 chronic #LongCovid, now bed-bound, unable to walk, no income or support, bankruptcy close, house repossession on horizon. Please help and share if you can 🆘

Age 23 in 1990 at The Santa Cruz Operation (SCO UNIX) in Watford UK and Santa Cruz CA, Sales VP announced "that's no person, that's Spence". I still giggle. I placed all his orders on hold, master of the database. Subsequently Employee of The Year award, Naples FL.
Me aged 23 on a train with, errr, cough mixture? Sure. The original UNIX software 1980s onwards. Employee of the Year award in candlelight c 1998, Naples FL.

What else to do? Scan reading Gathering Time 2vols, about 1000 pages. Thousands of radiocarbon dates and Bayesian modelling. Working on my recalibrations for the Meso-Neo overlap on the North York Moors 4200 - 3900 - 3700 cal BC (and a few earlier around 5200-5000). #Archaeology

#FlintFriday #FindsFriday 2019 throwback pre-Pandemic, fieldwalking after huge 60ha quad geofiz on a hill, Skelton-in-Cleveland NE Yorkshire, England (just S of Teesside). #Archaeology EVERYWHERE! Just a taster (Community project on-hold b/c of LongCovid). A lifetime's work: Mesolithic to Mining.
Flint blades, L broken, likely Neolithic in date. Well worked and looking well-used too. Fresh from the plough soil, another large flint blade, known as a "rod" or "we don't quite know what for", perfect condition after 5,000 years. Facing the east coast in the background, we used a quad bike and antenna trailer for magnetic susceptibility geophysical survey of a huge area - the top of the hill - 60ha total between harvest and ploughing Aug-Sep-Oct. A small but erstwhile crew of volunteers paced at 2m intervals line-walking the ploughed field. It's best after a few weeks of weathering before sowing. In the background is the North Sea coast and cliffs.
