1/ In terms of comparative examples, when anybody brings up the "man of his time" defense of Gygax, I always think of Palladium and the infamous early insanity table.
For those unaware, Palladium took an outdated version of the DSM as inspiration and included "homosexuality" as an insanity.

I don’t know why this is hard. If you’re going from Nether Wallop to Middle Wallop and you find yourself in Over Wallop, you know immediately you’ve gone too far

I should note that my Twin Peaks reviews are all designed with the first-time viewer in mind and don't spoil anything in advance. It's perfectly safe to read along as you watch if you want!
After writing this I realized this project is going to be intense, haha

What Noah Smith fails to realize is that ever since the Viking Great Army (micel here) began overwintering in the latter part of the 9thC, all UK wayfinding is created to be unintelligible to all but locals, even Brits one town over are mystified, just a quirk of national defence 1)

Here, another alternative: have him wake up in The Village (with the serial numbers filed off). Go weird with it, and use that to reset your franchise.
You write him walking calmly out of the ocean and smiling at a pretty lady. Explain nothing. Has this guy never seen a Bond movie?
James Bond’s death in No Time to Die is causing a nightmare for the next film. Writers are stuck because Bond “was blown to pieces.”
Anthony Horowitz, author of three 007 novels, says:
“You can't have him wake up in shower and saying it was all a dream."

What if they did something completely ridiculous, like indicate that a spy as part of a spy organization might possibly be assigned a stock cover identity and name when they join?
They could get really wild with it if it was part of a franchise which is specifically known for its different actors.

(this is stupid, no one cares. I was only dimly aware that any of the Bond movies, including the ones which were direct sequels, were intended to be in continuity)

We will not back any Senate primary candidate unless they call for Schumer to step down as Minority Leader.
If you’re as pissed as we are, join this campaign to rebuild the Democratic Party. 👇

Politicians aren’t going to save us. Most of them are just in it for themselves.
We’ve gotta protect one another, and build the society that we want to see.
People power will always overcome. When we’re organized, we’re unstoppable.
