The government’s ongoing refusal to engage with reality in the criminal justice system, while trotting out the same tabloid-pleasing headlines as its predecessors, is having catastrophic effects, day after day.

The guilty acquitted, the innocent convicted, victims and defendants failed.
Keir Starmer pledging 13,000 more police officers but not mentioning courts or legal aid means the backlog is only likely to get worse.

With Farage back on Question Time last night...

...here is your reminder that Farage was on BBCQT a record-breaking 35 times before he became an MP.

And, further, that the panellist selection on BBCQT has been heavily slanted to right-wing think tanks and commentators over the years.

Border checks, lower standards on pesticides, veterinary drugs, animal welfare make UK exports harder.

Brexit costing UK economy about £100bn a year.

The Lady Chief Justice is right.

The previous government devastated criminal justice, running up record delays and backlogs.

The new government’s ongoing refusal to fund the courts only increases the problem, and will lead to enormous financial and social long-term costs.
“Carr, in post since October last year, said the ministry of justice was “one of the most underfunded departments across government” and that “we have courtrooms and some entire courts being stopped running for significant periods”.

All of a sudden, my 'For You' feed in the other place has cleaned up.

Before I joined here I saw nothing but tweets from 'him' and MAGA and voluminous right-wing bile. Mostly though it was just him; tweet after tweet after tweet in my feed. Now, nothing.
