Just as in the case of Jimmy Kimmel's suspension, a consumer backlash is now underway: CBS fans are hearing about the "60 Minutes" imbroglio and calling/emailing local CBS stations to register their concerns. "We have no real support," a reporter at one of those stations told me.

That 60 Minutes piece would have essentially been ready when the promo was cut. Broadcasters do not generally promo stories unless they are confirmed for the lineup.

What I want is a version of Broadcast News in which the network tries to kill the story. But Holly Hunter charges into the control room, slams the door in the face of the executives, locks it and orders Bobby to send the feed to the stations anyway.

i have said this before but if you are actually interested in influencing people beyond a narrow circle of too-online journalists you will be making direct to camera videos on tiktok, instagram and youtube. if you primarily post on text-based social media then you're just dicking around.

Now, ICE aims to arrest 5,000 people in New Orleans, which has 384,000 people.
