The thing about the Diddy verdict and the budget bill is that you can and should take both of them seriously. Powerful men getting away with violence isn’t a distraction from Trump and his administration. It’s the same thing powered by the same rhetoric and logic of abuse
the interesting thing about the Diddy verdict is that House Republicans are about to vote to take away healthcare from tens of millions of Americas

A bit scary, but somehow not quite a surprise.

Concerns about student use of AI are real and merit serious systemic responses.

A lot of those concerns are being intensified by anecdotal reporting, however—which may/may not be representative.

It’s just as important to acknowledge the integrity of many students who do not rely on AI.

Trump has indefinitely withdrawn federal funding for:
• Investigating child sexual abuse and internet crimes against kids;
• Responding to reports of missing children;
• Preventing youth violence

The Trump Administration’s War on Children
The administration is quietly putting America’s children at risk by cutting funds and manpower for investigating child abuse, enforcing child support payments, providing child care and much more.

This time of year, leading into finals season, I always have to remind myself that the stress is temporary. Summer (and summer research!) is on the horizon.

A huge thank you to @scmstudies.bsky.social for providing the resources necessary for this new mom to be able to attend and present some research. Gratitude all around. #scms #scms2025 #scms25

How have I never been to #SCMS before? This is it. This is the vibe. People are lovely, the conversations are engaging, and everyone seems genuinely happy to be here.

Tomorrow will be the 1st time I've attended @scmstudies.bsky.social & the 1st time I've been away from my son. Beyond nervous about the latter, but so excited to be in community with friends and colleagues.

(Also I get to see my best friend, @camlbrown.bsky.social, for the 1st time in 22 months.)

@pwhoffmann.bsky.social guest lectured in both of my media literacy classes this afternoon, and I could not be more grateful!

I also snagged a copy of her book. My students loved chatting about conspiracy theories with her.

I had an excellent 6th grade social studies teacher who challenged his students to filibuster. He meant to teach us how important the filibuster is to our democracy. A lesson I'll never forget.

Sen. Cory Booker is doing incredible work today. We're at hour 15 now.

Taking another minute to brag on my students:

Two of my undergrads, both from historically underrepresented groups, were accepted to the grad programs of their dreams with funding.

It was an honor to help them through the application process, but they’re doing the whole damn thing.
