Listening to Billionaires by Civics 101 Podcast…. Did you know there were only 20 billionaires when I was born in 1990? Now there’s over 900. That seems like an issue

On a happier note this morning, don’t forget you can that you can raise money for nature just by listening to some pretty great music. Put it on in the background and start raising money for some great indigenous led conservation efforts!
Want to support wildlife conservation by just listening to music? Check out the Museum for the United Nations' Sounds Right Project. Every stream on your favorite platform raises money for critical conservation projects around the world.

The second richest man on earth is about to acquire TikTok and his family could soon own both Paramount and Warner Bros.

The third richest man owns Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp.

The fourth richest man owns The Washington Post.

See the problem here?

Trump wants to DOUBLE Argentina's bailout to $40 billion to save his political ally.

Yet he is doing nothing to prevent 15 million Americans from losing their health care and 20 million from seeing a doubling in their premiums.

Is this what Trump means by America first?

I just sent a message and took me two minutes. Please voice your support for SB79.
Reminder that @governor.ca.gov is reportedly considering vetoing SB79, the best housing bill to clear the CA legislature in decades.

It would be a *disaster*, substantively & for Newsom's political future. Really hope he doesn't self-immolate.

Tell him!

It's one thing to talk about the 1 in 20 Americans who live in households without cars. But it's another to talk about all the people who live in households with fewer cars than people who need to drive to participate in an autocentric society, particularly kids, elders, and people w/disabilities.

So why do we plan our cities like everyone can and does get behind the wheel every day?

Kroger will lay off ~1,000 employees.

In December, it announced $7.5B in stock buybacks – which juice stock prices, enriching shareholders and boosting CEO pay.

Just so happens that Kroger's last CEO was paid 457x its typical employee in 2024.

Textbook corporate greed.

How fun would these be all over the city? 🐑
Remember these? Still probably my favourite bollards/barriers I’ve seen anywhere in the world. They aren’t just cute and fun (and extra seating) — they’re REALLY heavy. Cars should NOT try messing with these sheep! I took this pic while working for Christchurch NZ years ago. #CityOfSmiles

I am so sick of this. I was almost hit by 4 cars on my walk today. Drivers speeding, not looking before turning, and using their phones. I hope this person is ok. We need elected officials who will prioritize pedestrians and cyclists.

This won’t significantly improve travel times, but it will decrease safety for pedestrians and further disconnect a neighborhood. Email Councilmember Whitburn, Mayor Gloria, and Supervisor Montgomery Steppe and let them know your opinion. San Diego deserves better.
The traffic engineer's own model predicts that the widening would INCREASE total travel time to the airport. But airport officials want it anyway to "reduce congestion".
Great reporting as usual from @acbowen.bsky.social.
Businesses fear Grape Street redesign would further 'divide' Little Italy
City and airport officials are preparing to remove street parking on Grape Street to increase the number of lanes from three to four.
