We’ve got some exciting news: OpenCSD and CSDisseminate are joining forces and becoming 1 working group! Our mission is still the same: to spread the word about #OpenScience in communication sciences and disorders. But now we’re doing it together.

I’m so sad to hear about the shooting at FSU. Thankful that my friends there are safe. Thankful that I wasn’t there. I used to spend a lot of time in that Union. But I’m so sad to hear about the people who are injured and lost their lives.

This is preventable. It shouldn’t have happened

I was on campus today, ran to a locked lab when I got the alert, was locked down for hours.

My 3y old was also locked down at FSU childcare.

I am still very much in shock, and scared. This is so preventable. Thank you for being the only politician I’ve seen so far for saying something, Sen Booker
My heart is with the FSU community, and the victims as they recover. Firearms are the leading cause of death for children and teens and there have been over 300 incidents of gunfire on college campuses since 2013–not including mass shootings.

This is horrifying. Masked men abduct a woman in broad daylight. “We’re the police” cannot justify this. Her “crime” was writing words in a student newspaper.
Apparently ICE is detaining a Turkish Fulbright PhD scholar from my local university Tufts and terminating her immigration authorization BECAUSE SHE WROTE AN OP-ED IN THE STUDENT PAPER THAT THE TRUMP REGIME DOESN'T LIKE. We're deporting people now for writing editorials. Welcome to the police state!
Tufts University international graduate student detained by federal agents
Tufts said it was told the student's visa status had been terminated, and the university is now working to confirm that information.

The NIH is canceling already-funded research on inequality, telling scholars that their studies "are antithetical to the scientific inquiry, do nothing to expand or knowledge of living systems, provide low returns on investment, and ultimately do not advance health, lengthen life, or reduce illness"
My federal grants with @wendymanning.bsky.social and Ann Meier were terminated last week. The language from the termination is below. It has been sad as we are being forced to say goodbye to members of our team. We are figuring out next steps. We remain deeply committed to studying all families.

Today I lost an NIH grant training clinicians to do research about intimate partner violence with perinatal women.

More women are murdered in the perinatal period than die of obstetric complications.

I didn't just lose a grant. We lost an entire cohort of people building careers to prevent that.

Unfortunately, there was another round of FUNDED grants cancelled yesterday. These illegal cuts stop projects that have been in progress for years, interrupt lifesaving research, and destroy the public good of science in the US.

This week, I wrote about what stripping $400 million in research grants & contracts “as a first round of action” against Columbia means for every other university.

Plus warm thanks to #StandUpForScience, more on NIH funding & a list of (good!) lawsuit updates

I felt like I really had to go to #standupforscience because I assumed I'd be the only person with a sign about trans rights

I can't tell you how happy I am that I was wrong

The reaction to my sign was overwhelmingly warm and my soul feels recharged. We do have allies out there
