Pupil dilation was greater when the listener did not accurately perceive the phrase for the speaker with dysarthria. When listening to the control speaker, the difference in pupil dilation between accurately and inaccurately perceived phrases was not significant until after the phrase offset

We used generalized additive mixed models (GAMMs) to analyze the pupil dilation data. The overall best-fitting model is shown below. One key take-away is that listeners pupil dilation was greater when listening to dysarthric speech, even when they were still able to accurately perceive it.

I’m so excited for my PhD mentor, Dr. Kaity Lansford! Tonight, she was awarded Fellow of the Association from ASHA. I’m incredibly grateful to have a mentor like Kaity. I truly do not think I would have been able to accomplish what I have done without her.

Congrats Kaity! I’m so proud!!

I saw a rainbow today on my way home! I wasn’t able to get a great picture of it, but I had to try at least 🙂 What a nice start to Pride month!

Happy Pride! 🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️

Week 3 of #TidyTuesday is already here!

This week, I experimented with gganimate to create this GIF showing change in number of polling locations in each state between 2012 and 2020.

This year, I really want to improve my #dataviz skills, so I am planning to participant in the weekly #TidyTuesday projects. This week, I just created my own version of the sample figure. But I hope to get better in the future! #RStats

Finally, this last poster will present prelim findings from a focus group study about the use of open science practices in CSD. This study, led by Danika Pfeiffer, is another project with fellow collaborators from CSDisseminate and OpenCSD. Austin Thompson will be presenting. 5/6

In addition to these sessions, there are two other poster presentations that I would like to highlight. The first one is a poster presentation about SLP ratings of intelligibility. My friend and colleague, Austin Thompson, will be presenting our work on this at ASHA! 4/6

The other presentation is a virtual technical session about using GitHub to collaborate on coding for CSD research! Elaine Kearney and I provide a short demo on how to use GitHub. 3/6

I am also presenting two other talks about open science practices with some of my fellow collaborators with CSDisseminate and OpenCSD! One is an introductory seminar about open science practices (presented with Mariam El Amin and James Borders) 2/6
