Another of my favourite games I played this year was Many Nights a Whisper, which in some ways feels like a companion piece, but this time you're thrown into a very high-pressure situation and grapple with its significance, and the real possibility you might fail.

I think it partly hit at the right time, and resonated very strongly with me at a time when I was struggling with some similar stuff. I'm not sure I'd recommend it to everyone, but I hope this gives an idea of whether it might resonate with you.

It is not mechanically compelling. And that is the beauty of it. It feels mundane. You don't really learn new skills, or even really get better at anything, particularly. And I don't think you're supposed to. What you are learning is to sit with this feeling. To be bored.
