Baltimore begins budget hearings this week.

Five years ago, in the wake of George Floyd's murder, dozens of people signed up to testify on the police budget.

The husband and I sat down and wrote this as written testimony. It remains relevant: warskeptic.com/2020/06/05/t...

Worked MANY hours last week. Many, many deadlines and not enough hands.

Logged off F night, all of Sa. Took an embroidery/mending class today. Two hours to just be creative and experiment. Really needed that.

@mtamarylandalerts.bsky.social I know you had a cyberattack. But months later this is what the majority of the Silver buses look like.

And here's the Gold. Is it a 12 mins wait (fine) or nearly an hour (not fine).

Oh good, another day in which none of the buses I am waiting on arrive anything like on time. Why should it take over an hour to get from Charles Village to Fells?
It has been months since the cyber attack at MTA. Here's what the tracker looks like at 1040 on a random Saturday. Will I wait no minutes, 10 minutes or nearly an hour for bus?

When the state of Vermont posts a job you'd love, in a state you adore, but your kid is starting college next fall and you need in-state tuition.

There is group of crows in the tree just outside and this man has been absolutely losing his mind for the last 20 mins.

Coworker: Is that ... Is someone crying?
Me, deep sigh: No. That's Peter.

Good to see Baltimore City finally moving to get door locks -- something the FBI listed as best practice after Sandy Hook more than a decade ago.

PCAB called for this several years ago. Instead, Baltimore City spent millions on flawed, AI-enabled weapons detection go.boarddocs.com/mabe/bcpss/B...

May we all be as incisive, fierce, and unwavering in our commitment to moral good as Alice. May her memory be a blessing.

Maryland has a $1.4b budget hole.

Which does Wes Moore want more: (1) to govern for now, for everyone in the state

OR

(2) to govern for a hypothetical future presidential run.

NEW: The first two years of Massachusetts' millionaire tax has raised $3 billion more than expected.

And rather than driving the rich away, IPS researchers found that the number of millionaires has *increased.*

Baltimore City Schools has proposed to *close* Dallas F Nicholas and reroute kids to Margaret Brent. To fit the Dallas kids, they propose *eliminating* middle grades at MB and making the school a K-5 rather than K-8.

PCAB raised Dallas as an example of siloed, poor policy making TWO YEARS ago /1

If any other edu folks can f/u: if this is the annual review then it should be on the agenda and should have slides and should be linked to the yearly reporting process (see www.baltimorecityschools.org/page/annual-...)

Schl closures/mods are BIG deal and the community deserves call AND info!
Great. But where on the formal agenda for 11/12 does it say so? The agenda on Board Docs does not include this item. Are you planning to amend the agenda to comply with the Open Meetings Act to reflect the addition of this item?
There will be an Annual Review at the Special Board Meeting on Wednesday, November 12, 2025.

@baltcityschools.bsky.social Thanks for sending an email about a special Board meeting on W. But the W agenda on Board Docs go.boarddocs.com/mabe/bcpss/B... doesn't reflect that the meeting will include the annual review.

Which is correct?

Congratulations on your win to make healthcare one font size bigger, possibly in bold.

Because insofar as I can tell, the job of Senate Democrats is writing press releases.

In memory of Professor Dorothy Bosch Keller, my art history teacher. Her slides captured me, so much so two decades on I can hear her talking about Boticelli.

With any luck I won't completely fall to pieces seeing Caravaggio, remembering how much she loved his work.
