While the US pours trillions into war, communities on the Gulf Coast — and across the country — are left without the resources, infrastructure, or support to survive the next storm.

Grateful to folks at @inkstickmedia.com
for allowing me to reflect on surviving Katrina and how 20 years later, we have learned nothing and are still left defenseless.

there is simply no possible case for continued support for Israel and there has not been for quite some time

a genocidal regime behaving with utter impunity, unconstrained by even the pretense of international law

No other place on earth could this happen w/out complete uproar from journalists across the globe. Yet here, crickets. MSM’s silence is complicity

My job involves working w/ journalists; many of those have been / Al Jazeera. All my love to the Al Jazeera family. What a tragic & heartbreaking loss 💔

This. The EO—though it doesn't carry the force of the law—calls for even more efforts to criminalize and institutionalize unhoused people, folks with unmet mental health needs, drug users and those deemed to be "vagrants." It aims to render people as disposable, and control, lock up + disappear them

Trump is further militarizing foreign policy. That’s what boosting the DoD budget and slashing State does. Intellectuals sprinkled across the political spectrum have lapped up the yokel credence that he is “anti-interventionist” but Trump is another (draft-dodging) militarist
NEW: 1300 people were fired from the State Department today.

This image, sent to PBS News, shows a message taped to a mirror today inside the department’s offices.

35 lives lost in a single night. Families burned alive in tents meant to shelter them.

Gaza is not just a warzone, it’s a graveyard of promises broken and aid denied
My family is among those still trapped, with no food, and no escape.
I’m not asking for luxury - just a chance to keep them alive. 🙏

We're at the Hands Off rally in Washington D.C. with a sculpture of the Palestinian children who have been murdered by Israel.

The Hands Off rally might not have mentioned Palestine - but we're making sure everyone attending see the genocide their tax dollars are funding.

It’s true, Palestine was not included in the hands off demands but that didn’t stop us from bringing the message.

Having principles transcends partisanship. The sooner people like the person in this post realize this - the more likely we can build a better world.

This type of person is the perfect mark of Trump administration. They are feeding right into the administration’s need for capitulating
I refuse to care about Mahmoud Khalil until someone shows me at least one statement or post where he unapologetically supported Biden or Harris.

Show me that he didn't support his own imprisonment and deportation.

The line that Netanyahu re-started the war on Gaza to avoid prison is not wrong but perhaps too literal: Israel, much like the US, relies on war and colonial violence as a means to resolve otherwise unresolvable internal class, economic, ecological and social contradictions

Everything Is Destroyed in Gaza. But I Still Feel the Pulse of Life.
When I am finally able to return to the ruins of what was my house, I will do so, not to weep, but to make a promise to rebuild it.

everyone should listen to this in its entirety but journalists should listen to it multiple times. this is how you ask questions. you just keep asking simple, easily answerable stuff and the evasiveness becomes that much more glaring
