Ever since Tween Girl found Paramore I've been waiting for her to go full 90s emo. Today she told me, "This is a bop. Trust." then proceeded to play Complicated by Avril Lavigne. We have arrived.

I had a little spasm of YouTube hate when Littlest Kid said she wanted to try Dubai chocolate, but then she followed up with, "Can we make one?" which sounds fun and cool.

"Impulsive" behavior for co-mom and I mostly entails enrolling in higher education and she works at the community college which lowers the navigating-bureaucracy barrier for me so much.

They voted me in as a board member for the county historical society and it's like joining a very cool old man club.

We often find drugs in our customers' cars, but it was really thoughtful of this morning's drop off to leave his meth pipe and stash in the open ashtray so we know to take it out before we take a test drive.

Sometimes the internet is a gift: I've been laughing imagining my stinky-footed dogs working on the corn chip line at the Frito Lay factory all day courtesy of TikTok.

Our weird little old man friend is missing and/or stole our car and I would rank that as one of the better problems we have this week.

I've never been one to call a man to handle a situation, but I've also never been one to have an angry rattlesnake on my porch. Unstoppable force/immovable object type sitch.

1/3 of local moms suggest visiting the supplement lady at the natural foods store to "fix the underlying cause" of ADHD. I'm shocked she's not more famous if she's over there altering DNA with vitamins.

My usual route for making friends when I move somewhere is becoming a regular in a coffee shop, but we don't have any. Turns out the coffee station at the Speedway works too so now I have a new hiking friend.

In the four years I've lived here I've imagined an increasingly unhinged series of Burma Shave-style signs directed at the mine commuters speeding and tossing tallboys and fireball nips on the street in front of my house.

I think the statute of limitations has run out so I will admit that in the wee hours one night in 2000 a friend and I used masking tape to make the window at the ICA say "fat Maine College of fArt."

Probably the greatest relief of my life is that my kids' bio parents came around on vaccines in the past couple years and they're now caught up. The MMR vaccination rate in my county is 33%. It's a tinder box.
Measles outbreaks occur where people aren’t vaccinated. It’s pretty straightforward.
More than 120 people have contracted measles in a community along the Arizona and Utah border, officials say. NBC News’ Erika Edwards details why the area is seeing a surge in cases — and how it’s spreading to touristy spots.

One of my favorite local design decisions is the taco place that chose the Chinese-restaurant-in-the-80s font.

I'm very nice and patient with Cummins Guys alllll the time so I've decided to let myself mildly beef with the one who came for me in the comments of my own gaht damn video for a little treat.

Being the official shit shooter at our business is awesome sometimes and I might join the board of the county historical society which is a goal I didn't know I had.

Youngest kid has named the spare mattress in her room the Abyss Bed because she likes to run and sort of vault/flop over the top of it into the closet and disappear into the abyss.

Oldest daughter is going through it and when I asked how she was last night she silently placed a bottle of Manischewitz on the table and held up a pizza.

I had a really nice chat with a sister-in-law the other night about how the sibling fighting in this family isn't normal. They fought about time of death 3 minutes later and now they've kicked off some kind of multi-ward Relief Society power struggle about the funeral that I'm staying far away from.

I will admit that Mimi Treats -- saltine crackers, cheddar cheese and marshmallows microwaved briefly -- were never my bag, but even when she wasn't really eating anymore she took a bite an eager grandchild made her because that's the kind of grandma she was.

For two days I've been attending my mother in law's death with her daughter, her best friend of 55 years, her 96-year-old sister, and a beloved caregiver and it's been an intensely nurturing and special experience.

Usually it rains hard for a few minutes then the sun comes out here and everyone's very happy, but it's been raining and gray for two days the way I'm accustomed to and everyone's kind of seeing why it's a bummer after a while.
