Making a bogeyman out of 1% of the population feels appropriate when I remember how often I heard that Japan is only 1% Christians, yet I’ve known multiple American missionaries longing to pump those numbers up.

I don’t have a lotta “wish I heard this sooner” stuff, but when I was young and didn’t feel like God was there, I’m a little upset I never heard “well, go and find him! He’s in the face of the hungry being fed” and was just told to do my devotionals.

Do y’all remember hearing a sermon about how Jesus didn’t continue bugging the Rich Young Ruler after he was turned down, so you shouldn’t feel the obligation to be friends with people once they say they don’t wanna go to church with you?

Respectfully, “permanent” shouldn’t be spelled like that.
I get that we have legacy spellings from all the languages we got these words from, but sometimes it’s just impossible.

I don’t know how anyone could watch Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood and not come away with a deep and abiding respect and admiration for the strength and capability of women.

In the OT there are these idols called Ashera Poles. In that text specifically, they promote fertility. Like Ba’al and Moloch, they’re representative of Israel resisting God and making their own way into their own ruin.

I think I would have felt more secure in my masculinity as I grew up, if I had the terminology to refer to them as “boy bazongas” instead.
