Discworld QOTD, from Jingo

“Odd thing, ain't it... you meet people one at a time, they seem decent, they got brains that work, and then they get together and you hear the voice of the people. And it snarls.”

UPDATE: Per OCPF, Josh Kraft has received $566,520 in contributions, of which only $2,191 are from Boston residents contributing $100 or less.

The total number of Bostonians contributing $100 or less remains at only 26 residents. Repeat: Twenty-six.

The story tells itself.

More to the point, it takes one senator to deny unanimous consent for a time agreement. The House Dems, the federal workers, everyone opposed to the Schumer Surrender would be happy to have additional time to gather 41 no votes on final cloture. Any senator can do it.
2/ When you pass a bill in the senate you need to do cloture (60 votes) to start the debate and to end it. And there's things that have to happen between those votes. If those rules are all followed this bill won't pass until the beginning of next week.

Bostonians, if you're worried about how the MA Senate is going to cause your rent bill to go up because of their inaction on Boston's tax shift home rule, don't fret: they voted to give you a $50 tax cut for your rent bill for the entire year.

And if you're a dead rich person, you'll get $99,600.

I don’t purport to be a budget expert, but this is worrying.

I also find the timing – a mere 3 months after the legislature and Governor gave substantial tax cuts to investors and wealthy estates – risible.

While they were cutting taxes they were warning about fiscal storm clouds!

Disappointing how the city has really been lagging on PILOT reform given how our mayor and so many councilors claim to want to take action.

Boston's tax-exempt organizations make voluntary cash payments and create community programs meant to benefit residents, but critics say they're not giving enough for all they're getting.

This reversal of Mayor Wu's previous stance as a city councilor and as a mayoral candidate is wrong. The BRIC and gang database are based on racist profiling and surveillance, and do not keep Bostonians safe.

Contrary to the mayor's claim, there is no meaningful accountability within the BPD.

The move is an about-face for Wu, who campaigned on dismantling the Boston Regional Intelligence Center's controversial gang database and abolishing the center in its entirety.
