I would also say that the state of Israel’s decades-long insistence that they both represent all jews and any criticism, including clearly legitimate criticism, of their actions equals antisemitism has only served to endanger jews around the world.
31. An increasing number of Democrats – including a majority of young Democrats and many young Jews – recognize that protecting Jewish safety in the U.S. has no connection with supporting the state of Israel. Antisemitism and opposition to Israel are viewed as two completely separate issues.

I think the fact that it's NYC is significant. NYC, and specifically the history of the Jewish people in NYC, directly disproves the central lies of Zionism. And as I thought about when I saw Zohran speak about NYC as a city of immigrants, it's the city my immigrant ancestors chose (not Israel)

Love the simultaneous messaging from the Trump admin that $6 to $9 for congestion pricing to drive into NYC is onerous and needs to be overturned, but children just need to sacrifice with fewer toys because of tariffs

If the U.S. government is going to take the position that, once removed from the United States, folks can’t be brought back, then it sure seems to me that federal courts should be reflexively and categorically barring *all* removals until they’re 100 percent certain that the removals are lawful.

This is the best assessment of the current state of play on the Trump regime’s attempt to consolidate authoritarian control.
The Trump Administration is trying to forge a personalist authoritarian regime and honestly the conditions for success are there. However, they're *way* out over their skis at the moment. Their pure recklessness is making their path to success way harder 1/x

Watching large swathes of people on X convince themselves over the last couple of days that Social Security is bad, actually, is wild.

Never could have imagined this. This isn’t even the privatization argument of 20 years ago, they’re calling it a Ponzi scheme and want to nuke it.

Rubio’s position seems to be:

- We get to say who is a terrorist. Our decision is final. It can’t be challenged. Just trust us.
- Once we decide you are a terrorist, we can immediately deport you. No judges.
- After we deport you, we can make you rot in a foreign prison. No criminal charges needed.
On Hugh Hewitt’s show, Marco Rubio says El Salvador is “housing” people sent by the US. But he never says on what possible legal authority? These people haven’t committed any crime in El Salvador and by their own admission “many” have never committed a crime in the US. It all seems entirely lawless.

(2) many to come

(3) conflation of material support for terrorism with generalized anti-Americanness

(4) no recognition of distinctive legal protections for green card holders

Terrifying.
