@matthewjdowd.bsky.social I heard you and @nicollewallace.bsky.social on Deadline White House today. I agree that the elected Dems have been behind the anger and fight of the people and that maybe they are starting to catch up with the actual battle of authoritarianism vs. democracy that we're in.
I feel like this Texas redistricting is what has finally gotten the Dems to wake up to the fact that this is not normal partisan politics, and it's the dismantling of our democracy. Maybe this is the issue that will trigger elected Dems to be as scared and as angry as the rest of us.

Of the 901 Billionaires in the US, what tax rate do they currently pay? Do they pay their employees a living wage? How many have contracts with the government? What other subsidies do they get? If they paid a fairer tax rate and we removed the subsidies, how much $ would that add to the US Treasury?
America can and must be bigger than their punitive politics.

As a four-decade veteran of the daily journalism business, let me tell you: Every competent political reporter in this country knows that Trump is trying to establish a dictatorship. The industry's shame is that so few journalists will say so, and the ones who do lose their jobs.
