Air conditioning. Cereal. I like to get the daily news.
Contra conventional wisdom here, I’d like a freak in the streets, not in the sheets
Brian is on the nose about Democratic strategists who are too busy "looking at their spreadsheets" to seize upon the outrage in the streets.
Wrote about this jarring juxtaposition in this week’s mailbag. www.offmessage.net/p/indict-ice...

Ok but what does the moderate-but-secretly-conservative made up guy guiding Chuck Schumer’s actions think about all this
This is incredible: 81% of working class and 83% of young voters have seen video of Renee Good's killing, per new data I've obtained. Majority of working class disapproves of ICE enforcement. ICE brutality is breaking through big time.

Some thoughts on this here:

This is the dynamic across most of America: Liberal cities generate revenue, which state governments then transfer to benefit conservative rural areas, whose residents despite city-dwellers and consistently vote to harm them. But politicians endlessly pander to rural voters and demonize cities.
Another critical piece of missing context in this story: tax dollars flow from the MSP metro to rural Minnesota. People in the city subsidize the lifestyles of people living in the country minnesotareformer.com/2023/12/04/t...

Cripes a’mighty people, Steven Miller is not staging a militarized ethnic cleansing and sending the border cops to murder people in the street to distract from the Epstein files. He’s doing it because he and Trump (and Vance and Homan and Noem etc) really really want to.

Luckily only one thing happens at a time in the real world or we’d need a government that’s capable of working on “affordability” AND addressing the fact that ICE is terrorizing neighborhoods. What a bunch of losers, man.
It turns out that everything in politics is "soup de jour" or "bait" except talking about how you want to reduce health care costs by 0.05%.
NEW: Kristi Noem is facing by far the most credible impeachment effort of Trump's 2nd term. Some House Dems are fuming.

"Noem is just soup du jour," one told @axios.com. "It's all performative bullsh*t."

Centrists say they want to focus on affordability. www.axios.com/2026/01/14/k...

This is why Dems lose. What can they even do about affordability? What does that even mean? “Things in your life will be cheaper” is so far downstream of anything they’d even do it’s laughable.

Musk is a clown but it is very funny that there’s a weird circle of “America is great bc freedoms and as such you must adhere to jingoistic dogma about America bc it’s great bc freedoms and as such…” that so many people believe
I'm starting to question this guy's commitment to free speech

As we know, the Trump administration is full of liars. So why does anyone extend any good faith to these people?
Zero percent chance this is true.

even aside from the casual racism this nitwit deploys, imagine how dumb you'd have to be to not understand why people might more readily protest a murder carried out by their government, for which their government is unrepentant, than than a murder by an individual.
Tricia McLaughlin on Renee Good: "I think if the individual was killed last week by an illegal alien, I don't think we would be seeing any protest."

Can’t get over this quote by Tillis. People do this shit all the time with Trump. “He’s trying to eliminate the independence of the Fed. I will only cooperate with him if —“ Why would you cooperate with him at all???? Why doesn’t the first part of what you said disqualify everything else he does?

Powell standing up to Trump is the same thing as the Minneapolis residents standing up to ICE - both rely on the realization that all of their power flows out of their ability to make you afraid, and you don’t have to be, and then they have barely any power over you anymore.

Someone in my neighborhood has one and to make it even worse, there is a huge decal of “cybertruck” in a weird Monster energy/graffiti font on the back
I just saw a cybertruck driving through my subdivision for a 2nd time and holy shit, one of my neighbors actually bought one.

The reactionary centrist logic is simple: if the left does something bad it’s the left’s fault, and if the right does something bad, it’s also the left’s fault for making them do it. It’s a simple formula and once you see it every one of their arguments is the same
