Dems coalescing around 5 restrictions on ICE, I'm told:

DHS required to cooperate with state probes (big)
CBP stays at border
warrants for arrests
IDs, bodycams
ICE out of churches, schools

"That package unites a lot of Dems," Sen Chris Murphy tells me on the pod:

A Dem Senator’s Harsh Takedown of Trump Hits Home: “Breaking Point”
As Trump scrambles to contain the damage from the latest ICE horrors, Senator Chris Murphy offers a sharp indictment of Trump-ICE lawlessness—and explains how Dems can meet the urgency of the moment.

NEW: Minnesota's top federal judge says ICE has been violating court orders repeatedly — detaining noncitizens or rushing them to Texas despite judges' commands.

He wants ICE's director to answer for it "personally," and could level contempt sanctions.

Bari Weiss to inform CBS News staff that the news is being over reported.

Going forward CBS News will air Swan Lake in the national news time slot on Mondays through Thursdays.

On Fridays they will open up the newsroom’s whiskey bar and drink heavily while NCIS episodes run in the background.
NEWS: Bari Weiss will hold an all-hands meeting to discuss the future of CBS News tomorrow, per note that just went out to employees.

The administration has lost control of the narrative.

Ordering Homan to Minnesota provides the appearance of oversight but little else.

Worthwhile 🧵

The Trump administration failing to grasp that their actions have given rise to an adaptive networked and, thus far, peaceful resistance movement that they have neither the understanding nor the temperament to effectively counter.

Life is hard, it’s harder when you’re stupid.
The irony in militaristic terms is that the bovino maga set are buying themselves into a classic counter insurgency trap (everyone who lives in the place you're occupying and laying siege to hates you and will give aid without question to anyone who looks likely to have a chance at fucking you up).
these guys are LARPing like siege commanders talking about "supply lines"

rightoids literally cannot comprehend the idea of a community caring for their own; these people live in Minneapolis their supply line is a five minute drive to the grocery store

It’s -2000 degrees below zero. You just flashbanged yourself twenty feet from the front desk. Three hours sleep cause locals who hate you bang garbage cans outside your room all night. The Home2Suits has fallen and you’re not getting that signing bonus for another 4.5 years. Ass. It’s all ass, dude.
Minneapolis, MN -

Very developing situation here. FPS agents ran into the hotel. Tear gas deployed. Hotel patrons forced to put their hands up. One agent’s nose bloodied.

The Chun regime that my wife fought against in the 80s did the exact same thing. They needed a "crisis" that "only they could solve" to hoard more ill-gotten power, so they chose one city (Gwangju), declared its inhabitants enemies, sent trucks full of soldiers to violently attack and kill them.

We are now seeing the highest gold and silver futures prices ever. This links directly to heavy speculation against the US dollar based on a sense that the US is now experiencing its worst economic misadministration in the period after World War II.

When the false narrative that the victim was a domestic terrorist falls flat in the face of reality, administration officials recommit to the bit that any and all bad things in MN are the fault of state and local officials.

Notable that the poaster in chief has gone radio silent on this.

One issue is that the Insurrection Act can be challenged in court and given that protests are peaceful and that violence isn’t being committed against federal or local law enforcement officers, a court challenge could result in a stay and another loss for the administration.
Honestly, I think the more interesting question is why HAVEN'T they invoked the Insurrection Act yet, given that they have been screeching about it for almost a year now.

Pundits one year ago were opining about the lack of pushback to Trump and Project 2025 but to paraphrase Hemingway, we can see a national grassroots resistance building momentum first very slowly, then all at once.

Formal boycott of the World Cup and Olympic Games this year.

EU member countries could partially divest from U.S. gov’t bonds or, consider repatriating gold reserves as Germany is doing.

Won’t happen but would love to see EU member nations issue a travel ban for Melania and Trump’s children.
Wondering whether international pressure on US will start in earnest, on World Cup and other stuff.
A German soccer federation executive committee member says it's time to consider a World Cup boycott because of the actions of U.S. President Donald Trump.

This is apparently on X. I have a few concerns: 1) why is DHS sending photos of (alleged) evidence that should be in a secure chain of custody that is now lying on a car seat??? and 2) being armed does not on its own justify the use of deadly force — there has to be evidence he was trying to use it

The speed at which they got this picture to a fox news reporter means this was entirely about creating the narrative they want. The truth no longer matters, just being able to set the narrative.

This post sums up the strategy.

It's not incompetence: Patel and Bongino know truth is irrelevant, and all that matters is what people believe to be true. Research shows that whatever people hear FIRST is what they will believe going forward, regardless if they hear corrected information later. They shape reality deliberately.
not surprising and yet still jarring to read ex-FBI agents describing how Kash Patel and Bongino reacted to Charlie Kirk's murder while running the agency. truly the content creator administration/podcast govt www.nytimes.com/interactive/...

1. Victim was on the ground face
down restrained by what appeared to be four ICE agents or CBP officers.

2. Victim was shot multiple times
by more than one person.

3. Narrative released not by state or federal officials but by a post from a Fox News reporter.
