This sounds interesting and useful!
Next Monday join our team to go behind the scenes into the life cycle of a Crash Course script from a seed of an idea into a heavily-researched, edited, fact-checked & fun-ified piece of writing. Learn how to make nonfiction writing engaging, clear & story-oriented, and avoid common pitfalls.

I find academics particularly awkward about telling audiences something some people might already know, even though I've found that when someone repeats some things I already know as background it enhances my perception of their credibility

Don't fear the repetition, embrace it!

I'm pretty sure the whole point of this frustration was that a substantial chunk of your colleagues don't want anything to do with the bigger fight, and fail to see the manifest dangers from repeatedly giving these people what they want with no meaningful strings attached. Jesus Christ.
But there are real dangers out there that must be fought; and energy spent fighting each other is energy lost to that bigger fight.

Some nights I drink a couple bottles of Dragon's Milk stout and watch John Le Carre flicks.

Nothing inflammatory has dropped yet, but I’ve received countless veiled threats that it’s just a matter of time.

So yeah.

If you see shitty posts about me out there… please consider directing them to my video.

There’s more than one side to this story. ❤️‍🩹

💔 Pre-emptively posting about what I’m afraid might happen (a malicious reputational smear campaign) is terrifying.

I’m worried about:
✅ fabricated storylines
✅ cherry-picked old posts
✅ AI images / videos
✅ stolen / leaked personal data

Here’s the gist:

The average SNAP benefit per month is $177 a person.

The average ACA benefit per month is up to $550 a person.

People want us to hold the line for a reason. This is not a matter of appealing to a base. It’s about people’s lives.

And working people want leaders whose word means something to them.

One of my favorite things about the tropical dry forests of Guanacaste are the winter visiting Scissor-tailed Flycatchers. They're later than a lot of other N American migrants, but they're starting to show up in good numbers now. When it gets too wet in Bijagua, I just head down to the sun. #birds

New episode!! 🎙️🎉

A conversation w/ @erinhecht.bsky.social about the diversity and evolution of canine brains.

We've lived and worked with dogs for 15,000+ years, sculpting their brains and bodies along the way. What can we learn from their singular story?
