Black belt level 1 achieved! 7 years of work (interrupted by injuries and covid). Also, enjoy a picture of the black belts at my dojo, a long with the L10 grand master of our organization who officiated at the test.

144 techniques and 7 forms. I only missed a few from nerves.
A black karate uniform with various patches detailing organization, location, name, etc. It is tied by a black belt with one red stripe. A line of 8 people in karate uniforms, each with different levels of black belts, from level 1 (me and my co-aspirant) to level 10 (the grandmaster of our org). The level 9 is my sensei, and all except the grandmaster is from our dojo.

The robot feeds her in 15 minutes, but she's so starved that she's just crouched staring at her food dish (she's not starved, she's 15% over her target weight)

A grey striated linen tunic with a chevroned hem (kinda like a medieval tabard). It's on my ironing board, where I'm carefully ironing and pinning a 1/4" hem all the way around. So many angles!

Cosplay arrows done! I fletched these with found turkey feathers and black and white feathers from Michael's; dowels; leather dye; embroidery floss; and LOTS of hot glue. Also an exacto knife for all those mistakes, and scissors for trimming.

Next up: very long belt or two, then a bow holster
6 arrows, no points, no nochs. The fletching is a combination of (dyed) black feathers, white feathers, and brown and white striped turkey feathers. Above and below the feathers I've wound brown embroidery floss. These are for a ranger costume for Renaissance Faire

First pass at fletching cosplay arrows for my ranger RenFaire costume. I think they turned out pretty good! 5 more to go, than I have to figure out how to carry/holster my bow.
The fletched end of an arrow, obviously homemade. There are three feathers (technically pieces of feather) arranged evenly spaced near the end of the dowel. Two are brown and cream striped turkey feathers, one is a solid buff brown (also turkey?). Above and below where the feathers attach I've wound embroidery thread to "tie off" the fletching. The dowel is stained a leathery brown. I won't be noching the arrows because they're cosplay, and arrows don't need to be noched to shoot, if you're not shooting olympic-style

He (she?) spent a couple minutes after we noticed him just hanging out, watching us and the yard around him, before finally taking off. Gorgeous! I adore hawks, and this is the closest I've ever been to one, outside of a zoo. 🥰🤩😍

Look who was using our back porch railing as a scouting perch!! It has to be one of the larger hawk species in our area (Massachusetts), but I don't know yet if it's a northern harrier, rough legged, or (most likely?) juvenile red tailed. Vid to follow

An old swing set like many of us grew up with, except this is the deluxe version with swings, a plastic double swing-teeter-totter thing, and a plastic slide. It sits in a field of mowed grass and is bisected by a large fairy circle made of large white mushrooms. The bottom of the slide is in the middle of the circle. Text: This is why it was a mistake to replace all the old 70s metal playgrounds with safety plastic. Iron. You need iron. Or else.

This morning I chose a couple hundred books at our library bookstore, loaded them in my car, grabbed lunch, then set up a table at the farmers market, which ran from 3p-7p. It was 93F/33.8C. then we broke it down, returned the books to the library, and collapsed. It was great, but I'm shattered 🥵😵

How it started, how it's going.

Yemenlaith, the 50ft crystal titan artifact, is in center background, represented by a column of fossil sea creatures (ammonites?). Sagarji the Swift and Mighty stands in front, wings spread (red dragon mini, half the size of Yemenlaith). She is flanked by four Predictive Monks. In the background are two fire drakes and a wyvern. The ground is littered with rocks, crystals, stone walls (summoned by Yemenlaith) and small pools of lava. In the foreground is us and our allies, having just stepped through a portal to the feywild in one of the walls. We have started to spread out and are accompanied by five (soon to be six) fire elementals which our warforged monk Sentinel has dominated and will soon send after the monks. Sagarji has just monologued and Kyne, our champion fighter, has monologued back at her (they're Enemies). Surrounding the playmat are our character sheets, dice, and the DM's screen showing the kingdom map. 3 rounds in, Sagarji has picked up Yemenlaith (!!) and has tried to laboriously fly off with it but Sentinel told it to encase itself in ice, causing her to drop it (it's falling slowly for Reasons). Two predictive monks are down and the other two are being harassed by the remaining fire elementals. Sentinel is being attacked by a fire drake which he had prevented from strafing him (of course he has the sentinel feat). Kyne is flying 50ft in the air on his warforged dog Assist (Assist got a flying potion) and is being harassed by the other fire drake after a disastrous series of misses at Sagarji (5 rolls below 6 using action surge, balancing out the two crits in his opening volley, ouch!) The wyvern is grappled by Rhajha's grasping vine while she stands a ways away having zapped Sagarji with a chain lightning coin (like a scroll). Our goal is to kill Sagarji because if she escapes we're certain she will flame our home base town in revenge before leaving to continue being A Problem. She's down at least 60% we estimate.

The two I bought were Sheldrake Point riesling ice and Buttonwood Grove cab frank/cab sauv ice. Honey, apricot, peach and plum notes, smooth and rich.

(Proper) Ice wines are hand picked in the middle of the night after temps have been way below freezing for a couple days, then pressed immediately.
