The USSC already ruled that the Texas Supreme Court couldn’t post the Commandments. Either the Court overrules its recent precedent or strikes this down.

Good!
A federal judge ruled on Friday that an executive order President Trump signed in March targeting the law firm Perkins Coie was unconstitutional and directed the government not to enforce its terms, which had threatened to upend the firm’s business.
Trump’s Order Targeting Law Firm Perkins Coie Is Unconstitutional, Judge Rules
The decision marked the first time a federal judge permanently blocked the Trump administration from enforcing an order to punish law firms he opposes politically.

@dianaluzsanyi.bsky.social @mvpkate.bsky.social Tonight’s attempt at Twitter education: explaining that DEI ≠ Affirmative Action. Guy who was clearly a bigot kept going back to quotas and “unqualified” people. Clearly uneducable. But my hope is to reach someone scrolling.

@dianaluzsanyi.bsky.social @mvpkate.bsky.social I don’t usually engage with MAGA idiots, but I’m having fun over at Twitter. A guy is trying to argue about how the folks chained and flown to an El Salvador prison weren’t deprived of due process. I feel kind of like a cat playing with a mouse.

Informative fact-checking post.
In a televised Oval Office meeting, President Trump and Ukrainian President Zelenskyy argued about how to end Ukraine’s war with Russia. During the meeting, Trump and Vance made several misleading claims about Zelenskyy and Ukraine. @politifact.bsky.social fact-checked three of them.

OMG. You have to click on the link and read Marc Elias’s letter.
I am the great-grandson of a man who led his family out of the shtetl to a strange land in search of a better life. I am the grandson of the three-year-old boy on that journey. As you know, my name is Marc, but my Hebrew name is Elhanan—after the warrior in David’s army who slew a powerful giant.
My Open Letter to Elon Musk
From Marc | Elon Musk recently posted on his site that another lawyer and I are “undermining civilization.” This is my response.

It’s a basic principle in the rules of “choice of law”: one jurisdiction cannot punish someone for activity in another jurisdiction. That’s why the arrest of a prominent Korean actor, who had smoked weed legally in CA, when he arrived back in Seoul was so shocking. Hochul
Is correct.
New York Governor Kathy Hochul announced that she has rejected a request from Louisiana Governor Doug Landry to extradite a New York doctor who was previously indicted by a Louisiana grand jury on felony charges related to her prescribing abortion-related medication to a woman in Louisiana.

Ofc I haven’t seen the complaint, but as Reuters describes it, I don’t see how DOJ gets around Printz v. US (1997), which held state law enforcement can’t be made to enforce fed’l law. 🤷‍♀️
To be clear: the Attorney General said the U.S. had filed “charges,” but what they in fact filed was a civil lawsuit. www.reuters.com/world/us/us-...

What gets me about this whole “Gulf of America” thing is that Trump doesn’t seem to realize there are two continents named America. It is not a name unique to the US. 🤷‍♀️

Not disagreeing with the opening sentence. But, as an FYI, plenty of people are immune in the US. 1) States. If a state violates federal law, such as discriminating against people with disabilities, there is nothing you can do about it. They are immune. 2) Foreign sovereigns are immune in many 1/n
2 different justice systems. Trump was shielded from JAn 6th trial by the Supreme court. They delayed and delayed then said the president does have immunity, which since the start of the USA no one is immune from the law. But the judges are on trump's side not the US. Constitution's side.

I’ll just add that the only officers constitutionally required to be 35, natural born citizens, and have resided in the US for 14 years are the President and VP.
Lots of replies asking if Elon Musk is ineligible because he's not a natural-born citizen and therefore can't be in the line of succession.

No, we've had plenty who were not natural-born citizens in similar positions. Two of Biden's Cabinet, for instance. The succession law just skips past them.

Sounds like a great law school exam question. Personal jurisdiction? Choice of law - as to Paxton’s claim, doctor’s affirmative defense? Standing?
"The Texas attorney general opened a new front in the contentious battle over access to abortion this week by suing a New York doctor for sending abortion pills into Texas. It appeared to be among the first attempts to stop the mailing of such medication into states that ban abortion."
