One thing they don’t tell about being retired and working only for yourself is that when you have a bad procrastination day and don’t do the one simple job on your self-imposed schedule, you feel guilt for being a shitty worker AND depression as a boss stuck with this character you can’t motivate.

One reason I didn’t have more of a journalism career than I did was because I made less than no effort to befriend sources. I had actual friends, and when I left the office at the end of the day they were the only people I was talking to. Heck, I mostly didn’t like fellow journalists.
