Looking at historic houses and imagining living the rural life just because I can afford them only in places I would never actually be able to live long term

Yup my library has been pushing AI lately (with a bunch of classes on using ai and now copilot) and I refuse to have anything to do with it
It is really embarrassing that Library Journal/School Library Journal isn't even pretending to care about the ethical issues with GenAI, either in general or in libraries.

We really deserve better from our trade publications than full-blown, uncritical hype of every new tech trend.

This whole 'no ethical consumption under capitalism so I might as well use substack' thing just does not fly for me. It does not. There are alternatives which come with their own problems, but they are not actively funding Nazis? Like this feels like a clear choice at this point.

Taking time out of my depression spiral today to warn people, if you've noticed reporting inaccuracies for some time from Alejandra Caraballo, turns out she's been using AI as a source for months, and has just been revealed. The list of blocked programs she posted today has severe misinformation.

Learning about the Zambia space program and the Afronauts. They never got the funding to try to make it a reality and Matha got pregnant, but this short film is based on it and shows the possibilities!

About links, bluesky loves them. Please unlearn the link-in-reply tricks you've been doing elsewhere and proudly share your blog posts, videos, or any other external link in your top posts so we can all go and visit your fancy websites and then get back here to discuss and repost them. Thanks!

Not only is X throttling external links, but it is also messing with its public pages. Without an account, you don't see the conversation if you go to a post. Instead, you get ads to sign up. If you visit profiles, the latest posts are not there. Useless for microblogging. Harmful to the open web.

I get to actually go inside a currently-abandoned historic house (from 1867) for my class next month!! For important purposes though so it doesn't end up demolished by the land owner since they don't know how to preserve it.

All these media people only now making their way over to Bluesky insisting they don't want to put in the effort to build a new social media account and that we can find them on SUBSTACK...

Good job propping up vocal alt-right, anti-trans and nazi sympathizers!

Which side are you on?
