Can wheat grow against the grain?
Can an eagle forget how to fly?
Can a hedgehog defy to be shy?
If you were wondering - though I’m not sure why - yes, mosquitoes can fly in the rain.

Does anyone else notice an unwillingness of journal editors to make decisions lately? I recommended acceptance for a paper in Round 1, and since was invited to review the paper two more times. Also, recently we had received 2 accepts from the reviewers for a paper, and the Editor sent it out again

I publish a lot more than I review and I'm happy to review papers in my areas of expertise!
Recently did around 30 requests to ppl who'd published very similar papers to the one I needed reviews for. 3 declines, 25 no response. Please at least decline guys it slows stuff down so much otherwise.
I'm still relatively new to this journal associate editor business, but it already sucks… I've had a paper on my desk for more than a month now:

Reviewers invited: 12
Of those…
Declined: 5

I'd like to develop one for my own lab, and I think some examples of what other folks are doing would be helpful.
