Big news: The Trump administration has essentially proposed shutting down tribal colleges and universities, displacing more than 20,000 students.

My latest for ProPublica:
NEW: A nearly 90% funding cut proposed by the Trump administration would likely shut down and devastate the 37 tribal colleges and universities created to serve the students disadvantaged by the nation’s historic mistreatment of Indigenous communities.

Just recently, he was very funny in THE RESIDENCE, one of my favorite shows of the year. Plus THE WIRE, obviously, plus a *lot* of trips to the Law & Order universe, and on and on. A fabulous, versatile presence.

this seems specifically designed to break mail-in voting (where deadlines are defined by postmark)
As of 12/24/25, USPS changed policy on when they postmark mail. Mail dropped off is no longer guaranteed a same-day postmark. Tax returns & other time-sensitive items are now stamped when they reach a regional processing center, which may be days later. Plan deadlines accordingly to avoid penalties.

I'm also hearing through the grapevine that she fired a bunch of people today.
Bari Weiss just sent this Christmas Eve email to the CBS News staff about "building trust," which includes her tripling down on spiking the CECOT piece "to make sure it's comprehensive and fair."

One CBS staffer tells me: "She really has no idea how insulting she comes across."

She was first in her family to go to college.

She’d been in the U.S. since she was seven.

They grabbed at the airport on her way to surprise her family for thanksgiving.

They put her in shackles. Her ankles, her arms, and her waist.

In a city full of cool people, Dilla might be at the top of the list.
Winning an Emmy, building a TikTok following, and leading bus tours are all part of a larger mission for Dilla: the idea that someone should be preserving the stories of Chicago’s Black communities before they’re lost.

Remember the immigration raid on the apartment complex in Chicago almost two months ago? The one with the Black Hawk helicopter and federal agents rappelling on ropes? @ProPublica decided to take a deeper look. We found little evidence to support the government’s claims. 🧵

The Magnificent Mile’s vacancy rate has gone down in recent years; among them, Uniqlo is opening a store at 600 N Michigan soon.

The vacancy rate of the retail space in Trump Tower, a few blocks away, has always been about 95%.
