First post on Bluesky! Hoping to use this platform to share, find and discuss research. Posting my first publication on ketogenic diets and endurance:

‘Carbohydrate Supplementation Improves Ultra-Endurance Performance in a Keto-adapted Individual’

Our publication 'Strategic carbohydrate feeding improves performance in ketogenic trained athletes' has been published.

This is the first study to our knowledge assessing the impact of carbohydrate on 'chronically ketogenic' (min 12 months) athletes.

Short 🧵 what we found.

Absolutely love @iaindale.bsky.social’s new podcast, full of robust but respectful debate.

Totally agree with Iain’s point RE younger generation lacking resilience but think there’s more context needed. This generation is full of nihilism, no prospect of home ownership or an easy life.

Those who said Starmer was just demonstrating "diplomacy."

These are the inevitable consequences of appeasing a fascist.

A total own goal from Starmer as he has totally unnecessarily offered him a state visit.

Trump is a thin skinned bully. He has stopped peace talks because Zelensky wasn’t ‘thankful’ enough about the USA.

Keir Starmer has spent time and capital forming a good relationship with trump.

He uses it to support Ukraines cause ASAP or it all means nothing. #trump #starmer #ukraine
I think this is the closest many of us have ever got to seeing the real Trump. The only consistent thread in his entire unhinged rant was the love & praise for Vladimir Putin. Zelensky has more courage & dignity in his little finger than every member of Trump's regime & fan club combined.

Just listened to this brilliant conversation involving @zackpolanski.bsky.social

It inspired me to join the Greens. They are the party that can create radical societal change.

I’ve been a Labour Party for years, now resigned the the fact they won’t provide the degree of change needed. Listen up!

In this weeks Substack I looked at a review on Sodium bicarbonate in endurance performance and recovery.

Fascinating supplement with a lot of recent interest due to the Maurten bicarbonate method, many athletes currently using!

Enhancing Exercise Performance with Sodium Bicarbonate
A supplement so cheap and simple that you can find it in the baking section in Sainsbury's. Today I explore how bicarb can be used to enhance performance.

@nickferrarilbc.bsky.social it is not prayer there banned, it’s protest. Please don’t let people misinform your listeners.

It’s nothing close to ‘thought crime’ the prayer is used as protest in a place that’s illegal to protest in order to protect women #lbc

Nick Ferrari having one of the most tasteless phone ins I’ve ever heard on LBC right now.

Caller currently saying trans ideology is being taught instead of Christianity at schools.

How many people have been red pilled online… and no pushback. Disappointing. #LBC

Matt Goodwin ‪supporting Trump giving into Putin. How much of Britain’s territory would be surrender?

This is chamberlain esq appeasement from the Tory. The war doesn’t stop until Putin loses, that is how he works. Appeasement means war continues. ‬#bbcqt

Not like there are serious issues in the world…

In the past, when James O’Brien is not on LBC I don’t listen.

These last couple weeks has been the exception. @lewisgoodall.com has been brilliant, thoughtful and covering fascinating topics.

For anyone listening, read his book left for dead, superb personal account of the Labour Party #LBC

In today’s Substack I disseminate some of the key findings from my first publication, from 2024 looking at carbohydrate intake in a ketogenic ultra-endurance athlete.

This formed the basis of a larger study to be published soon 🤞🤞

Please share!

It’s being marketed massively on social media, I take a look into the evidence

I wrote a short Substack about new research on MCT oil and how it may enhance endurance performance.

Anyone interested in #keto or #ketones will be interested in the physiology!

New Study: MCT Oil Increases EPO concentrations - Endurance Ramifications
A recent study has shown that just like Ketone Esters, C8 MCT oil can increase EPO concentration. This blog will discuss the study as well as why this opens the door for MCT use for endurance athletes

#bbclaurak promoting the lie about Labour being responsible for Sainsburys jobs cuts…

Surely as political editor we could at least expect some reading beyond the daily mail front page

The chancellor might be blamed - but Sainsbury's job cuts must be seen in the wider context
It is entirely reasonable of Sainsbury's to cut costs when confronted with a higher tax bill and more retailers will follow suit in the weeks and months ahead.

It’s incredible how patronising and cynical kuenssberg is when questioning Rachael reeves.

I remember well her sympathetic interviews to Tory ministers #bbclaurak

Laura Kuenssberg saying the Sainsbury’s redundancies are due to decisions Rachael Reeves took. Does she even do the slightest bit of background reading or does she just read the daily mail?

The redundancies were planned 18 months ago. #laurak
