Higher Education Lecturer in Physiology. PhD researcher, studying the impact of carbohydrate restriction and exogenous ketones on exercise physiology. Views are my own.
Only acute, pre-exercise carb feeding enhanced performance.

This suggests that the ergogenic effects of carbs may be mediated through central nervous system mechanisms or via the prevention of hypoglycaemia, rather than through delayed metabolic pathways.

Despite the athletes being on ketogenic diets, they were still able to substantially increase carbohdyrate oxidation through both acute and two-day carbohydrate feeding.

But the two-day carbohydrate feed did not improve performance (despite increasing carbohydrate oxidation).

In athletes who has been following a ketogenic diet for at least 1 year (mean time on diet 25±12 months), we used 4 conditions to measure the impact of pre exercise carbohydrates on execrise metabolism and cycling time trial performance.

And then she says she changed her approach to PMQ’s because her questions were too smart for listeners 🤣🤣

Great interview Iain. Kent Badenoch is unbelievably unimpressive, she’s contradicted herself multiple times (the leak was both putting people in danger and not!), and called for politicians to have more power to sack civil servants which feels like a sure fire way to politicise the civil service.

Hard to overstate what this means for our future! CHAMPIONS LEAGUE, buying power, success!!! Still shaking, what a nights

This is incredible news. I joined the Green Party after listening to you debate. There is a huge chasm on the anti-establishment left that needs filling to fight reform and to bring disillusioned Labour ex-Labour voters (like me). I think you can be the person to achieve this, good luck!!

She’s genuinely the most online politician I’ve ever come across.

You know her opinions before she says anything, just check the mad world of right wing twitter.

Previous generations may have suffered hardship but pre the breaking of the social contract there was light at the end of the tunnel. Many in higher ed during Covid will be living with parents for years to come - my view is if you restore the social contract you will see that ‘resilience’ build

How well have these ‘smart political moves’ aged?

Either he uses his ‘good relationship’ right now to bring trump around to supporting peace and putting his ego aside, or this ‘clever political game’ was worthless and an exercise in ego

Being panic drunk by Farage as we speak

Genuine madness. Every interview he does should start with ‘how did you not foresee this when you vocally supported trump’

It is a success, if he uses the bond he has to improve the outcome for Ukraine.

If not, what’s all the kiss-ass diplomacy for?
February 28, 2025 at 7:20 PM
Yep, and whilst Labour are more progressive than the conservatives, the political and physical climate we are in requires radical change, particularly with reform rising as a populist force
