Pretti stepped up for a woman who’d been assaulted. He exercised his rights in the face of actual tyranny, not from a podcast booth. He seemed moral and decent. His valor reminds pus stains like Patel, Berry, & Watters that their macho shtick is sad and hollow. *Of course* they celebrate his murder.

In honor of the team that ran a gauntlet, getting past Justin Herbert without an offensive line, CJ Stroud without any confidence, and Jarrett Stidham without any regular-season pass attempts, enjoy this 1980s gem:

The majority of organizing happening in Minnesota isn’t just peaceful, it’s INVISIBLE. Moms showing up who won’t be interviewed on TV, people whose ICE patrols don’t turn into viral video. The grocery runs, the donations, the people filming bc they happen to be there. Please remember this.

News, 2026-01-24 (part 4)

1. The state of MN has filed suit seeking a court order req'ing DHS to preserve & turn over evidence in the Alex Pretti murder case. One eyewitness, a doctor, gave a sworn statement that ICE denied Pretti first aid & that Pretti had five bullet wounds in his back.

Also, may I say that I don’t agree with people saying ICE and CBP need “more training.” They’re doing exactly what this administration has trained them to—impose a reign of fear in blue cities. They don’t need more training. They need to be ripped up root and branch.

Homeland Security propaganda: "an individual approached US Border Patrol officers with a 9 mm semi-automatic handgun[.] The officers attempted to disarm the suspect but the armed suspect violently resisted." Watch the video (easily found) if you can. Count the lies.

This martyr could be any of us. He is doing what so many of us have been trained to do. Standing and recording on his phone, trying to warn his neighbors, and now he’s dead because armed, masked federal paramilitaries are acting with impunity to perform ethnic cleansing.
Video before it happens is showing this guy they shot in the head in Minneapolis was just standing there videoing them before and they got out to push him back and then murder him.

News, 2026-01-24 (a few repeats after #1)

1. ICE agents in Minnesota shot & killed a man at point-blank range, the same man they were in the process of beating up at the time. He is (at least) the second Minnesotan ICE has killed this month.

News, 2026-01-23 (part 2)

1. The U.S. has completely withdrawn from the World Health Organization. In addition, and exactly as the NYT headline states: "Rejecting Decades of Science, Vaccine Panel Chair Says Polio and Other Shots Should Be Optional." (Fucking herd immunity, how does it work?)

Stay safe in your community's existential struggle against ice (or ICE). Especially if you're part of ICE Out of Minnesota: Day of Truth and Freedom. Tens (hundreds?) of thousands despite sub-zero Fahrenheit. Today's (other) news entirely in quotes.

"Weight Loss" (The Office (US) s5e1-2) is an abomination aside from that one amazing, memorable, pitch-perfect moment. It should also have a content advisory or two about at least two characters' physical health. That's the main (but not only) reason this double-episode is so hard to watch.

People who say this are clearly speaking aspirationally about a shared American creed they hold dear. “Have you heard of the Trail of Tears?” is not a very helpful response, because they probably have and the priority right now is moral opposition to fascism and not fake-educating each other.
I fear my tipping point into madness is "Thus is un-American" posts in response to ICE terrorizing immigrants. I beg you to open Wikipedia (I would say a book but let's start small) and read up on The Trail of Tears, Fugitive Slave Catchers, Japanese internment, Indian Boarding schools & Jim Crow

News, 2026-01-21 (part 4)

1. ICE-holes in Minnesota kidnapped a 16-year-old & 15-year-old after intentionally ramming their car. They did this in front of witnesses, whom they thentear-gassed. Separately, CNN caught footage of Greg Bovino gassing a crowd near where kids played in a park.

News, 2026-01-21 (part 3)

1. Associated Press found an internal memo teling ICE-holes to burst into people's houses even w/o a warrant signed by a judge. The memo claims an administrative warrant is enough; the Fourht Amendment disagrees.

The Office (U.S): 13M is through four seasons now & apparently I'm still hate-watching. Less of my hate is directed at Michael, though there are still some hard-to-sit-through episodes ("Branch Wars"; "Job Fair"). From my summarization doc (season granularity):

It's going to be hilarious to read even more commentary from the Rosenthals of the world about how baseball is utterly broken and it's worth sacrificing a season to labor strife because the most mid free agency class in recent memory signed deals that their teams are gonna wish they never signed.

Music: at any point in Madison Beer - "Bittersweet" you could cut directly to the second verse of Olivia Rodrigo - "Vampire." The transition not only would work but also would vastly improve the song.
