I am on a mission to publish/post as much math as I can, aimed at a variety of mathematical levels and backgrounds. Here "math" is broadly construed: actual mathematics, meta mathematics, advice about academia, etc. To that end, let me write a thread here about the many ways I share math:

This is the @mathandcobb.bsky.social way and I admire him for it. I even made a TikTok account to follow him there. I wish I was even one tenth as good as he is at making videos (or even one tenth as good at writing posts as he is at making videos, honestly that would already be cool).
i have said this before but if you are actually interested in influencing people beyond a narrow circle of too-online journalists you will be making direct to camera videos on tiktok, instagram and youtube. if you primarily post on text-based social media then you're just dicking around.

Mathematicians discount the power of social media tech to communicate our work at our own peril. 😮 Looking forward to seeing @mathandcobb.bsky.social share about Math in the Age of Social Media this Monday at 3pm Eastern!

It cracks me up that if I go to my Google authenticator app, I have codes for TikTok, Fortnite, and NSF, among others.

Hey @mathandcobb.bsky.social, can you ask the Hagoromo people if they'll make me an official Brand Representative if I tattoo a piece of Hagoromo on my forearm?

So let me try to get a bit of a silver lining out of this mess... Do we all now agree we need more science and scientific studies?

In this video I describe all the functions that are equal to their own n-th derivative, and also define the infinite family of "spiral trigonometric functions", which include the usual exponential, sine, and cosine functions as special cases #math #differentialequation #trigonometry #spiral
