I make art with needles 🪡
I'm bored of the internet 😑

1. We contacted the 100 largest American companies and asked a simple question:

Do you support the tariffs announced by President Trump on April 2?

These are tariffs that have already destroyed trillions of shareholder value

NOT ONE COMPANY WOULD ANSWER THE QUESTION
Trump tariffs, corporations cower
During the Biden administration, corporate executives regularly expressed their displeasure with policies they opposed.

Look, if you’d made focaccia this weekend, you, too, could be having an epic sandwich for lunch today.

I just lit a candle for no particular reason, and before I could even put the lighter down, the power went out. Spooky. I’ve lived here fifteen years, it’s only the second time the power has ever gone out.

Dunno what magical combination of podcasts I listen to, but suddenly I’m bombarded by ads for Emirates airlines exhorting me to close the door on my private suite, help myself to my personal mini bar and watch my wide screen TV. Sure, ok, I’d been looking for a way to spend a spare 20K USD.

Just under three years ago, I bought a space heater with a five year warranty. It's a good one. It's made of steel!

Over the past couple of weeks, it has started to conk out. It used to pump out heat like a blast furnace, but now it's more like a summer breeze.

I wake up every day with a song in my head. Today it was Don’t Stop ’til You Get Enough by Michael Jackson.

Some days I also have a word or phrase rolling around. Today that was "foul brine of the bovine breast."

(Note: song in my head like earworm, not song in my heart like joy.)

Why have I just noticed the distressed “grunge” texture in the x icon? 100% used this texture to make posters in Coreldraw in 1997 😭

By 10:54am today, the first work day of 2025, the average top CEO made as much as the average worker makes in a year. This never fails to shock: www.policyalternatives.ca/news-researc.... Many thanks David Macdonald & @policyalternatives.bsky.social for exposing the greed of this system. #cdnecon

Movies I liked best this year:
• Anora
• Flow

Books I liked best:
• No One Is Talking About This
• Priestdaddy

Audiobook favourites: [first: this year, I finally understood the audiobook appeal, when I ditched every US news podcast and found myself with hungry ears and extra time.]

I moved from Vancouver to Ottawa 18 years ago and was so happy to trade endless rain for blue skies and mountains of snow. Even when it meant 56 cm falling 10 days before the first day of our first spring. Now cold and crisp has been replaced by damp and dreary and I am not pleased.

Personally, I would not have capped off an #inkvent calendar with a full bottle of black ink, but there are so many tiny bottles of joy here, who am I to criticise? #dec25 #diamine

Pine needles and salted caramel. I know I said scented inks are a terrible idea, but if you’re going to scent ink at all, surely these are the two to pick? #dec23 #dec24

I got greedy with #dec22 and wanted a nice drop of ink to showcase the shimmer but instead I got a kind of crummy splotch
