Pluribus, the new series from Breaking Bad’s Vince Gilligan, is phenomenal. Best to go in without knowing too much about it, but it has a lot to say about the world today. And Rhea Seehorn is on course for that Emmy.

Sometimes news photos ring through the ages — the Iwo Jima flag, the Secret Service agent clambering across JFK's car, Bush's reaction on 9-11. This one is likely to tag Trump for generations.

I recommend the two sleeps approach, especially if your brain is not totally calm with the world at present. No, I don’t count the 0400 bathroom visit as a sleep break.

That is incredible. As bad as you think the state of journalism is in this moment, it's worse. It's much much worse.

In the all-conquering media/politics ecosystem that brought you Brexit, Boris Johnson, austerity, Liz Truss & the recent revival of weapons grade racism, she really is the Newcomer of the Year. Hands down. And the Spectator is now owned by a man who basked in the ugliest depths of far right Twitter.
Lam took a bunch of X posts from far-right racists and so-called "thinktanks" and turned them into a policy that collapsed as soon as anyone actually read it/understood it.

Would have been an absolute travesty if she hadn't won!

What we're witnessing with #Melissa is ultra rare in the history of known hurricanes in the Atlantic. This level of sustained intensity and feasting on every joule of ocean heat content without any real disruption is incredible.

Not hyperbole: Jamaica is facing a generational catastrophic event.

I confidently predict that people who profess to be outraged by, say, the removal or destruction of statues honouring slavers and other racists because "history something tradition something something" will be completely silent about this abomination.

This calm, cool decency is dangerously absent from our discourse at the moment. Almost everyone is embracing, normalising or ignoring the 'cruel bigotry, compulsive violence, and the sadistic persecution which has characterised the philosophy and practice of fascism.'

Everybody: please stop mentioning that Farage was regularly on Russia Today, a channel now banned for its Russian propaganda content, blamed the EU for Russia's invasion of Ukraine in 2014, had a Russian spy running his Welsh operation, and built his whole career on a policy Putin supports.
Farage is doing a big media push to deny he has any links with Putin and Russia.

It’s obviously starting to hurt.
