Good interview in the paper, this. I think Sadiq is right: London 'needs' to be less successful than it is for a bunch of political arguments here in the UK to work, hence the fictions being invented about it:
Populists attack London because it is ‘progressive and successful’, says Sadiq Khan
Rightwing attacks on one of the world’s most visited cities at odds with reality, says mayor

The argument here needs to move beyond "caps popular" to where replacement funding comes from (public funding) - otherwise we're just not going to see any progress.
A clear majority of people support introducing a cap on donations to political parties, polling shared with PolHome has found

57% of people support a cap on donations by individuals and companies, while just 7% are against it, 38 Degrees / Survation research found

That includes 2024 Reform voters

We really are a nation that loves animals and hates children. These figures are so shameful (via @natacha.bsky.social).

Been working with a few teams recently who are new to agile ways of working. I've written a short intro article on retrospectives for them: markdalgarno.medium.com/why-and-how-...
Why and how to retrospect?
Teams are best-placed to design how they work and any team can, and should, regularly reflect on their working practices — to identify…

I've been focusing a lot recently on refactoring. Simultaneously one of the most valuable and rarest developer skills.

In this post, I talk about the different levels of refactoring:

I need white men, especially those who’ve navigated real competition, to PUBLICLY push back on the idea that women and people of color are "taking jobs". A lot of white guys are mislabeling their own stagnation as discrimination, and they’re only going to hear that distinction from other white men.

This is an increasing problem that needs regulation.

The big tech co’s have become so big, so powerful, but also so careless.

All while we’ve trusted them with more and more of our work and lives.

Which they can take away in an instant, “without recourse.”
