For the hundreds of young activists and their allies who have pressed hard for the idea of a Youth Climate Corps, the YCC’s inclusion in this week’s fed budget should be seen as a win, but not overstated.

One of the reasons I decided to do a PhD was to improve my ability to focus on complex topics for long periods of time. My brain was melting out of my ears from years of COVID and social media, and I desperately wanted to THINK again. So seeing AI everywhere is making me feel crazy.

Trump bombing Iran without congressional approval was illegal and against international law, and this is what Carney has to say about it? Absolute pandering bullshit. Just embarrassing stuff.

May every single human being on this planet be safe.

May every single person be protected from harm.

May we bring into being a time in which we are all free from those who do evil— together, speedily and in our days.

I am incensed. This is all so heartbreaking and despicable. The Iranian people do not deserve this violence. We do not deserve this governance. The world does not deserve this. These outrages must end.

Wildfires are having devastating impacts on communities across Canada. But there’s another layer to the story: emissions from the blazes are also major contributors to climate change.⬇️

Philanthropy can’t claim climate justice while investing in climate destruction.

Too many funders are still backing extractive industries with their endowments — even as they claim #ClimateJustice values.

This took a while to get done, but I've chronicled my day among the protesters in Los Angeles, and the idea that this is anything but a celebration of cultural heritage and a firm, nonviolent demand to protect family, friends and neighbors is totally ridiculous.

Cries of Defiance and Songs of Joy in Los Angeles
The protesters are being called unspeakably violent by the Trump administration. I mostly saw clergy sit-ins and Tejano bands.

The IDF has intercepted and kidnapped the Madleen because they didn't want it to deliver baby formula n other things like that to Palestinians who are experiencing starvation due to the Israeli government refusing to allow aid in. That's the story no matter how you window dress it.

1. Over the past four months I've talked with many foundation directors about science philanthropy during Trump 2.0.

Two things come to the fore every time.

i) The most important they can do is maintain the pipeline of talent

ii) With the federal govt pulling out, ROI is higher now than ever.
Oof, just got notice HHMI is not even doing Hanna Gray Fellows, or any competition, this year due to the challenging times in science funding rn 😬 Understandable. On the bright side, I was really proud my application🌈 #science #nih #hhmi
