Sometime that first year, Blackbeard had a balcony built at the stern. He liked to feel fresh air on his face, and it saved him from having to go on deck. On the balcony, he could be alone if he wanted, wear Stede’s robe if he wanted, cry if he wanted. 🧵1/4
