So excited for THE BONE BRIDES!! This book is creepy and gorgeous.
Well, the rabbit's out of the PM bag! I have a lot of thoughts on what it means at last to be fulfilling the dream I've nurtured since I was 7 years old, but for right now I'm afraid all I have for you is the mental image of me flapping in a circle while I shout, I'M GOING TO BE A PUBLISHED AUTHOR!!

What would you do with the power to travel through time? Perhaps you would savor a fond memory or try to prevent an impending disaster. Surely, we would all return that library book on time, right? 🤨

Let's go some-when else in time with this week's book list. 🧵

I get that this was an ad supplement, but failure to fact check seems pretty typical of the lack of respect many media outlets have for book coverage. Hard to imagine a similar preview of summer movies that don’t exist—there would be an instant outcry.
This was just posted by @tbretc.bsky.social on another platform. The Chicago Sun-Times obviously gets ChatGPT to write a ‘summer reads’ feature almost entirely made up of real authors but completely fake books. What are we coming to?

Just putting this here for posterity. I’ve never had a book that was called “big” or “buzzy” before. And this one took me 37 years to turn into something readable.

"The Midnight Club" von Margot Harrison:

Klasse Plot, neue Ideen zu Thema Zeitreise, Ideen, die nach dem Lesen im Kopf bleiben. Fehlt manchmal etwas Grundspannung in einigen Kapiteln.

This book is deliciously witchy and atmospheric and you want it!! Think Cape Cod horror with some very bad things washing up on shore.

On a certain other app, I keep seeing posts saying that “major publishers” are “firing editors and using AI.” I’ve only ever worked with humans in publishing. Is this engagement bait, or is there a real example of it happening?

I hold on to this dream that I will write one really accessible and lovable thing that brings readers to all my other things, and it will turn out they are lovable too, but I seem to be no closer to writing that thing.

It’s a while since I’ve been around here, but anyway, the book for adults I spent 37 years writing has been out 2 months. THE MIDNIGHT CLUB is a Gen X second-chances memory drug thing & some readers said nice things about it.

This is why I don’t give writing advice even though it plays very well on the clock app. On published book 4 and still wondering how a person succeeds as a writer!
Very Tired publishing thread incoming:

I often find the most prescriptive writing advice comes from new/debut authors.

They've had a modicum of success and think this means they've cracked the code -- what they did was Right.

But there's no code to crack.
